Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

and again, I spared no horsepower as I ran the 2nd 1/2 tank with Techron.
Leading evidence: 'Run 2nd 1/2 tank' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace oil' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Indy cleared using Durametrics, I ordered Jectron (and subsequent Techron) and ran both on 1/2 tanks afterwards.

A tech, actually 2 techs, with a Porsche diagnostics computer are required to confirm this error with a test drive and live monitoring of the oxygen sensor for the affected cylinder bank does not change the mixture at all during hard acceleration with wide open throttle and enriches the mixture in the other cylinder.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Reset fault memory and test drive vehicle-CEL returned, poor/rough idle condition.
Background: 02 996 Cab/tip, 48k miles. Purchase 2/12. Precautionary immediate LNE IMS/RMS, AOS replacement, minor service by 15 yr trusted Indy. Lady friend owned, driven 2 or 3x/mo even during winter. Solid as a rock. On way last week for annual O/F (2500 miles total driven since above), coming to stop after short "passing blast", rough/shaking idle at stop, blinking CEL changes to solid. Car runs continuously rough/shaky the 30 miles to Indy (I drove to confirm), whether at idle/stop or during acceleration( obviously down on power, "missing".) PLEASE NOTE: I (and Indy to whom threads were forwarded) have read every "thread" on P0306, coil, plug, MAF, lifter, flywheel diagnoses, etc.
Indy cleared using Durametrics, I ordered Jectron (and subsequent Techron) and ran both on 1/2 tanks afterwards.
When car brought in initially, these are found codes and service notes VERBATIM: "Fault P0306 stored and present-misfire cylinder #6. Drove car and checked long-term fuel trims-bank 1-4.7%, bank 2-3.1%-may have small vacuum liad-all 02 sensor and MAF meter values were correct during test. Reset fault memory and test drive vehicle-CEL returned, poor/rough idle condition. Read fault memory: P0300, P0306, P1371-Valve lift control checksum error, above limit, P1380Valve lift control #6. Test valve lift system-pass(car idling correctly during test)."
I picked it up on 4/30 and flogged in mercilessly for 100 miles with 6 or 7 restarts. Ran like a scalded bear. No shakes, no rough idle 110% fine at all times, stopped, pedal to the floor and everywhere in between.
5/1: Garaged overnight, started, warmed up, drove sanely--at 3rd stop sign, bingo, rough idle/shakes, blinking cel (went away), accelerated fine, no shakes/roughness. To next stop. Shake/rough idle, CEL on. Ran it the rest of the day on 4 or 5 restarts. Ran like a scalded bear again. Only occasionally at stop/idle did roughness reappear. Never missed when off idle, accelerating etc. and again, I spared no horsepower as I ran the 2nd 1/2 tank with Techron.
Took back to Indy late pm. Durametrics again. Stored P0300 and 0306 only. (no P1371 or 1380). Reset.
5/2: 5/1 redux. Picked owner pm from train. On 3rd stop, you guessed it.
Not fixed. Rough/shake periodically at stop/idle raises its head again.
Indy swapped coil packs, pulled and looked at plug 6--looked a bit different than 5 but nothing untowards/unusual. Indy now suggests PST-2 diagnostics at P-dealer as he (and I) are at a dead end and neither wants to just start throwing money and replacing things (lifter?? is really what he thinks I believe. Macster, any WIZARDS here--your thoughts/input greatly appreciated.
I did not see if you changed the plugs. How often did lady friend change the oil? What weight oil is in it now? You swapped the coil did you swap the injector with another?
Duh--forgot to add that all fuel trim readings/percentages were within spec--Indy has confirmed and I am updating him as feedback (highly desired) flows in. Thanks everyone.
My WAG is one or both of the #6 intake valves is not switching to large lift. Time to replace one or both lifters. I'd vote for both, *if* you eliminate other possible causes. But with those lift control checksum errors... there ain't many other possible causes.
Might mention that to be "safe" the factory manual recommends all intake lifters of the entire bank be replaced.
A difference of 8% (could be less/more for various MYs) suggests a fault is present.
If the difference is less than 4% 1 valve may be faulty on both cylinder banks. Then all intake lifters should be replaced.
