Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. I just had my front bumper replaced due to a parking nick on insurance, but got them to paint the 2 fenders and the hood (And blended into the doors as I have a silver car) and got them to add the clear film, came to $2000 excluding the bumper repair, so not cheap.
Leading evidence: 'Replace due' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Actually I only really had rock chips after I having my front bumper replaced when I lost a battle with a truck tire retread.

I know it's not the best solution, but I use a bra to protect it as much as I can.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Over the last 12 months of my owning this car, I have collected about 6 stone chips on the front bumper cover. I touched them up but still collect them. Is this just an every day driving hazard or am I an unlucky son of a gun? I drive a lot of country lanes where loose chippings seem to more prevalent than they are on the main roads. The chippings seem to fly up from approaching vehicles. I also got a small chip showing in my front wind shield glass. Any other posters going through the same or experiancing the same situation.?
When you just have chips, things are still pretty good. After a few more years, the front of your car will look like it has been sand blasted. Get it re-sprayed, and the process begins again!
You might consider a clear bra after your next re-spray.
It does seem that the low nose of the car does expose it to more road debris than most cars. I know it's not the best solution, but I use a bra to protect it as much as I can. It still has 3 or 4 very noticeable chips since last respray.
Actually I only really had rock chips after I having my front bumper replaced when I lost a battle with a truck tire retread. Now anything that hits, that bumper flakes right away.
I have tons...it came that way when i bought it..looking at dr color chip until re spray, and then clear bra..just haven't had time to order and apply Dr. (no affiliation).
That's not unusual, repaint is never as strong as OEM factory paint, I've tried to find a paint shop for years which will guarantee their paint job is as good, not better, as the OEM factory, nobody has step up to the challenge yet, even the well-know shops who charge an arm and leg wouldn't commit.
Disagree, the Clear Bra on my DD is now 5 years old and through many highway miles and through winter road full of sand and salt particles, no usual stone chips at all, my theory is the softer but flexiable Clear Bra material absorbs the impact from the small road debries which would otherwise leave sandblasted pitting marks on the paint, the paint undederneath the Clear Bra remains unafftected, there is no way the paint will be anywhere as prestine as the the Clear Bra looks now after 5 years of constant highway driving.
If nothing else OEM paint is ALWAYS more desireable than ANY aftermarket paint, if I were buying a pre-owned car, I would pay for a car that had Clear Bra installed as soon as the car is delivered to the original owner and bypass one that has just been repainted. Plus a good Clear Bra job will cost less than a reasonable repaint, so why not go for a win-win solution?
But that's just me.
Yeah, I can justify some patina too but i had a fender bender (and paint cracker) happen the other day so a bit of body work and paint is needed. My estimate, for bumper removal, a bit of minor (really minor) body work, paint and reassembly in Canadian dollars, is 1500.
Mine has chips on the front bumper cover, the front fenders, the hood and the rear fenders right in front of the rear wheels. A respray for me will be expensive.
I've used Dr. Colorchip and it's okay. I'll keep doing that until I get a respray.
My car is actually at the body shop right now getting a new rear bumper cover from my airport incident. I'm looking forward to getting it back later this week!
If your car is red or black, Turtle wax Color Magic hides the rash fairly well. You have to really goobber it on the rash and apply a couple of coats. Not perfect, but hides it enough so that you have to be within about 2 feet of the rash to notice it. Lasts about as long as any other wax.
I respray the front every few years. I am not saving it for anyone here so perfection is not a requirement at any time. Lots of daily driver stuff, lots of long road trips, no shortage of track time. Bumper takes a lot of flak over a few years time.
The windshield will need replacing some day, too. I'm hoping for a marble-size rock falling off a truck to spike the windshield so I can get a new one for free (Florida law). But I don't follow trucks closely because something much bigger might fall off.

I was against the clear film’s / bra's before I bought the car, thought they were always to noticeable with a thick plastic film. When I bought it, it had the film on the bumper and I couldn’t tell it was there, and the bumper was perfect after 8 yrs and 40k with no chips at all.
So when my car was in for repair I asked about having the hood and fenders covered in film but commented that I didn’t want a thick plastic cover. They showed me the latest super thin films that I really couldn’t see if you were more than 3 ft from the car, really impressive. Probably not so imperceptible on a black car but for lighter colors you really couldn’t tell.
I’d rather pay for a $700 bra/film than repaint every couple of years at $2k+
i must say i applied a precut clear film kit to hood, fenders, and headlights myself. it came out great. after a year and 24k miles i do have two marks in it. those happened at highway speed with rocks. paint is fine and no dent. i did not attempt the bumper as it has many curves and figured i could remove it and have it painted. i was not a fan of it either, but figured i would give it a try, mainly for saving the headlights. overall very happy. nice diy.
My car is at the body shop to repair a crack in the bumper caused by a plastic deck chair that tried to occupy the same space as my bumper while I was doing 85mph. It's not possible - just ask any physicist. Fingers crossed for a good result.
