Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Still not in love with the steering feel though.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Had some time to spare on the way to get a new set of Michelins put on the car. Stopped by the local dealership. Had read so much about the new cars. I'm sure it's an excellent car. But nothing about the 991 was inspiring. I think if I were possesed to buy a new car, I'd look for a 997 GTS.

POST 2Original post

From a design standpoint, the new 991 is gorgeous. The new boxster more so.

POST 3Original post

I cant wait for the turbo, if it has lines like the boxster gills, its going to be stunning!

POST 4Original post

They look pretty good in person. I got a drive in one at Porsche event during Daytona 24 and I have to say I am impressed. Can't wait to see the GT3 version and see what they do with that one.

POST 5Original post

I have driven a few 991's and looked it over, I think they look great, they look like a 911 and that works for me. Still not in love with the steering feel though. And I think they hit one out of the park with the new Boxster, beautiful!

POST 6Original post

Most 911s are pretty understated though. Not until you look at the GT and Turbo series do they really start to come into their own.

POST 7Original post

997>991&boxster I like the 991 only in some color trims but not all of them. All the other 911 chassis look amazing in any color.

POST 8Original post

I'm waiting for the 991 "4" models to come out. I really want to see the 991 Carerra 4 GTS Cabriolet. I may just jiz on it in the show room to mark my territory.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have nothing against the 991. Sometimes, when you see the styling of a new car, it really is enthralling and motivates you to buy one (can't be said for Acura TL's of previous years....). But I don't see the exterior styling of the 991 significantly more compelling than the 996/997 -- and I'm not a fan of the Space Ship One console. One of the amazing features of the older Porsches is the sense of room you get inside. That seems to be disappearing. (Has happened in the Audi's as well.) Oh well, just "progress." They will sell well. May drive down the value of a car I'd rather have....so, could be Excellent.

POST 12Original post

I haven't driven a 991 yet, but I like it. It may be a suitable replacement for my C4S at some point in the future. I'd like to see a 991 C4S cab. But not the one Riad jizzes on...

POST 13Original post

I can't get into all the writing on the back! Ruins the look, I think. Who doesn't know it's a Porsche!?

POST 15Original post

I'm sure you can order one with the model information deleted, or you could remove it from a car that already has it...

POST 18Original post

I like the exterior except for the badging. I don't care for the interior though. When I sat in it at the launch the center console appeared cheap and fit poorly. It does have more headroom than the 997.

Well I didn't have to look far for a counter point I can agree with. I very rarely like the new redesign of a previous model but I liked the 991 the 1st time I saw it, even better up close. It looks like the natural sucsesser to the 996 & I never liked the 997. The 2013 Boxster looks great too & I never liked the 987. I think once the 991 is established it will boost 996 resale values.
