This is not a probability of success.

In at least one case an owner had a terrible time: This first shop was telling him it aligned/checked the alignment of the car, balanced this, balanced that, blah blah blah, and of course found nothing amiss.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

looking for your experience. my gt3 rims with pirelli snowsports had a bit of a shake from the rear. not terrible mind you, but noticeable with the passenger seat shaking. steering wheel smooth. brought my wheels to local wheel shop for balancing - and crap they made the situation worse. rear still shakes and now steering wheel wiggles. going to bring them back next weekend but it makes me mad. has anyone had a difficult time with wheel balance?

A few have had problems. The causes can vary. Most often it is simply a shoddy balance job complicated by in some cases the shop not having the right equipment. Hunter (to name a popular brand) makes a good load force balancing system, but it is only as good as the operator. In at least one case an owner had a terrible time: This first shop was telling him it aligned/checked the alignment of the car, balanced this, balanced that, blah blah blah, and of course found nothing amiss. Finally the owner got fed up enough to take the car to another shop. The shop did something -- alignment? (I forget) -- and the symptoms were gone. Apparently the first shop was to put it bluntly lying about what it was doing to deal with the symptom. Anyhow, sometimes tires are the culprit. But a good balance job should find a tire that won't balance. Lastly, in at least one case a car owner found with winter wheels the center hole for located the wheel to the hub was the wrong diameter and the wheel/tire assembly while it would balance just fine (the balancers generally have an adapter that is not sensitive to center hole diameters) but of course when the wheel/tire was mounted to the hub the wheel was not centered. Which of the above applies in your case? That's the tough question. Sincerely, Macster.

+1 You need load force balancing. Your local tire dealer may not have the equipment/tech and is just crossing fingers.
