This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I use my car as a daily driver so it encounters every sort of driving scenario imaginable with the exception of snow (but that's only because of where I live the city shuts down with 1/2" of the white stuff). In any case as with most men I was doing some last minute Christmas shopping yesterday and happened to see three other 996's in a period of two hours! This is pretty rare because I hardly see any to begin with but to see them all in miserable, rainy conditions was a surprise. A black one, a champagne colored (which is the first time I've seen one in person), and a gorgeous C4S that made me a fan of the color silver. There must be something about the color silver and cloudy/rainy conditions because this car looked stunning. So for whoever was in the Lake Norman area with the silver C4S, your car looks awesome! Happy winter driving everyone...I'm off to a 600 mile trip while driving an SUV.

POST 2Original post

Are you sure they don't melt? Then I will use mine today...it's raining here insead of snow. Have a safe 600 mi. trip, too bad you aren't taking the Porsche.

POST 3Original post

I know they don't melt. It's the doggone water spots thst get me.

POST 4Original post

Hey Jim, your 4.0 is perfect. I might be hesitant to drive in the rain with that Porsche, water spots or not.

For sure. Cold weather, too.

POST 7Original post

I believe driving in nice hard rain cleans the underside of the car, especially if you have salt and other winter junk under there!

POST 8Original post

This was at our first event in the spring at Brainerd a few years ago.

Did you guys still run? I know they will in rain but never thought of what would happen in snow.

POST 10Original post

Not that year. We got about 6" and it stayed cold. We stayed in the bar. Other years we've had trace amounts that melted.

POST 11Original post

They might not melt, but I lost a headlight washer cap the other day in a rain storm.

POST 12Original post

We don't have these conditions here in the West Coast (Thank God) but glad to see your folks drive your cars the way they were meant to Cheers

Thank you Capt. Obvious! (I always wanted to say that!) But yes, after owning two 996's, my latest is my 2004 C4S cab, which I bought new 8 years ago now has 122,000 miles on it and look/runs like it was new with no issues other than wear items. Just put on the snow tires and she gets driven in the rain/snow/sleet or sunshine (I'll keep it in the garage if there's going to be hail).

POST 15Original post

Haven't seen the snow yet No melting either, but it is a much different experience in the rain.

water/snow is fine, it is salt/sand mix that kills steel monoballs. until asphalt is clean from this sh$t nothing really matters, but as soon it is all covered with this mix - that means time has come to wait it all over...
