I just detailed the inside of my 99 C4 and I used a light coating of mink oil on the leather seats/leather areas. Seems like it worked well.

Anybody have any recommendations for seat covers for a 2003 graphite 996 cab? I am often very dirty with iron bearing material and it will stain the leather over time. Also, what is the best stuff for general leather maint and protection? The leather is good but on one of the bolsters, the color has started to crack a bit from wear and age.

That's a great question. I would be interested in hearing what other have to say. I just detailed the inside of my 99 C4 and I used a light coating of mink oil on the leather seats/leather areas. Seems like it worked well. Rubbed on, let settle in, and then rubbed off/buffed with a microfiber cloth. I'm sure there are other commercial applications you can buy, but mink oil has worked well for me on other leather items, vintage camera bags, etc. That said, I have only used it a couple of times on my car, so I don't have a lot of experience to cite. What are others using to keep up the interior? Kurt

I use turtle wax leather cleaner and conditioner. I use it on my dark gray leather in my 996. Works well and easy to use. My leather is in good shape so for me its more just to keep it conditioned, protected and looking good.

No matter how hard you work at it, eventually the outer bolster on the driver's seat will begin to show cracks and wear. The best solution in my opinion is twofold: 1. Use a good leather cleaner and conditioner on a regular basis. I use Lexol. 2. Eventually just have the bolster recovered. A good interior shop can do a single panel or two and achieve a very good match, as long as the seat has been well-cared for.
