Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It also had a lot of goop built up around the Intermediate Shaft Bearing, so I had that replaced along with the seal.
Leading evidence: 'Replace along' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace along' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm still not sold on the looks, but I don't like the lightweight stock 5 spoke wheels and the OZ's are super-light.
Greetings folks.
First off, thanks for the earlier help in PPI and other stuff while I lurked around these pages in search of knowledge before I bought. I've bought!
I come to the 996 forum after 10 years on the 993 forum. I sold the 993 about 18 months ago and miss the p-car, so I'm back. This time with a 996 C2 cab.
The car has a 6 speed, litronics, comfort seats, Bose, and I think that's about it. I apologize for the bad pictures. I'll get better ones soon.
I had a PPI done on the car and it showed a worn clutch, so I had the clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing done. It also had a lot of goop built up around the Intermediate Shaft Bearing, so I had that replaced along with the seal. I also had the 60k service done and put on 18 inch super light wheels and new tires.
She's ready to go. Not really. The mod bug has bitten. I have Fister exhaust on order as well as a Sprint Booster.
So excited to get back home and start enjoying the cab in SoCal weather.

Welcome!
I'm curious as to your impressions of the 996 compared to your 993. I nearly bought a 30k mile '96 993 C4 before I bought my '99 996 Cab in '02. I had my '99 for 7 great years, then moved on to a TT.
Damn! tough crowd. I didn't know w you guys kept score! In looking at my membership, I owned the 993 for 10 years buy have only been on Rennlist since '06. So I guess that puts my score at 124 posts in 4 years. Is that somehow more acceptable?
Nice cabrio. I envy you living in the land of fruit and nuts. I could really go for California; maybe when I retire.
But I think would get a black 964 cabby, remove the right front headlight, compound it with 90 grit, and road trip to Venice Beach a la Hank Moody in "Californication".
Or not.
Happy motoring!
Great to see you moved over to the 996 camp. Your car looks great with those wheels. You made the right move with the IMS/RMS replacement. Now you get to enjoy. I think I am heading over to cars and coffee tomorrow morning.
Thanks guys.
I think the move with the IMS/RMS was prudent as well. Yes, the wheels are OZ's. I'm still not sold on the looks, but I don't like the lightweight stock 5 spoke wheels and the OZ's are super-light. I do like the grey color of them. Who knows.
I'm traveling for business now, but can't wait to get home and put some wheel time on the 996. I'll share my thoughts vs the 993 as soon as my butt has had enough time in the seat!
Right off the bat, I'm thinking the suspension is super soft! I had H&R/Bilstien set-up in the 993. Throttle response in the 996 is slow compared to the 993 as well. Of course, I had a light flywheel in the 993 and really loved it. I've already got a Sprint-booster sitting on my front doorstep and that's going into the 996 ASAP. Hoping that will help throttle response. I know it's an illusion, but folks on this board persuaded me away from a light flywheel in the 996. Again, time will tell. I think my tire pressure is whacked too. Steering response in the 996 seems slow compared to the 993. Again, no firm judgements just yet, just thoughts from a few drives.

Congrats and welcome. Good call on getting a cab....been driving around myself with the top down (feel a bit guilty with other parts of the country getting snow).
