I have also made that trip in older 911's and though I am likely a bit older than you the 996 (even lowered with a Coil-over) is far nicer on the straight or curvy fun roads, and my bottom and back felt good the whole trip.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

thought i would throw this out to all fellow rennlisters to see if anyone knows of a person who hauls cars on the west coast at a reasonable rate of $400 one way open carrier from seattle to huntington beach, calif. i had a good contact for this years ago but he has sold his business.
i will be flying down to huntington beach march 2nd w/my wife and want to drive my car around the area for 3 days ... my wife will then fly home and i'll take the drive back to seattle.
any leads appreciated.
The drive back to Seattle is a very nice drive once you get out of Valencia just about all the way to Seattle aside from the mind numbingly boring 500 mile stretch of the 5 from the Grapevine to Redding and then it's much better from there on out. Driving in LA just f'ing sucks. Take it from someone who lived there for 30 years.
Yeah maybe driving on the PCH or Hollywood Blvd. is cool for 5 minutes until you realize you are sitting in traffic at just about any hour of the day or night. South of Huntington it's not so bad, but certainly still congested.
I have a friend who hauls cars. Let me check about what routes he does and I'll get back to you via PM. Worst case, I'll hop a one way Southwest San Diego to Seattle flight...... ; )
Having purchased my 996 in Huntington Beach and driven it to Seattle... I will confirm your *** will be much happier in the 996 then in any of the older 911s. I have also made that trip in older 911's and though I am likely a bit older than you the 996 (even lowered with a Coil-over) is far nicer on the straight or curvy fun roads, and my bottom and back felt good the whole trip. Then add working A/C and Heat when you need it and ... dare I say it ... you have a great "GT" road car.
P.S. I am retiring soon so I could do a one way trip... assuming you can't find a good hauler ;-)
jack...good to meet you on the forum. yes the drive north is great. done it many time and when i have the time i love the back roads in the sonoma/clear lake area. adds lots of hours but can't beat the fun.
theres a great deli on the route from clear lake...had my favorite ny sandiwch there and it matched any ny deli:
on a kaiser roll:
-roast beef
-swiss
-onion
-mayo&mustard
-salt&pepper
Groov, you are MAKING ME HUNGRY!
for both that Deli Sandwich.. and another ride in North Cal... :-)
Speaking of trips... i wonder how many NothWest 996ers might be going to Parade this year? July in Salt Lake City is close enough for me. I think I will start another Post on this... and maybe one on the best Deli in Seattle?
