Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used them last year; they reused my window molding--it was in good shape and had been replaced not too long before--and my total price was just north of $500.00.

They used a Pilkington part with new gasket, weather strip, etc.

Suggestion
I've used the dealer with good results, if a bit expensive.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My windshield got a big crack in it today so I need it replaced.
I didn't realize my insurance requires me to submit my deductible for glass replacement so I might have to do this out of pocket.
What is the best source for replacement and at what cost?
I did a quote on Safelite and they want $630. Is that a good place to go? Or should I go elsewhere?
I like to keep this thread around handy for these situations:

A bit outdated, but the info about alternate brands might help!
I priced one for an 02 last year from one of the largest glass dealers in the area and they stated it wasn't available except as a dealer item. They did offer to procure and install but the combined price was over 900.00 so I told them thanks but "no thanks"!
Did the quote from Safelite include new moldings/gaskets? I used them last year; they reused my window molding--it was in good shape and had been replaced not too long before--and my total price was just north of $500.00. Fast, courteous, diligent, done at the house, nationwide warranty, OE quality, etc.
I had a new windshield put in my Porsche a few months ago at Safelite Auto Glass. They used a Pilkington part with new gasket, weather strip, etc. The shop manager told me the glass is identical to OEM and sourced from the same company.
From my perspective, it looks perfect. I can't tell the difference between this windshield and the new OEM windshield. I'm happy with the replacement.
He Lied... It might be Identical to OEM but not from the Same Company/Factory...
Factory Porsche Glass is Saint-Gobain-Sekurit (SGS) made in Europe. Belgium or Slovakia
I bet your Pilkington is Made in USA or Canada.
Mind you Pilkington is a Top Glass Manufacture as well, OEM Supplier for Benz & BMW, althought i think BMW switched to SGS now
Also you can have SGS or Pilkington Glass made in USA/CANADA or Europe or Asia but the Quality is of the Region its made in.
Asian SGS Glass is Half the Price, hence Half The Quality and usually "Thinner" compare European SGS Glass, Trust me
