Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
32 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.
3 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

i thought my Clutch was Gone, but a $65 Part Fixed it :P
So yesterday after runnning through first gear pretty heavily (fully warmed up of course) the clutch pedal got very squishy/soft. It was obvious something wasn't right.
I have noticed this before but only when shifting after WOT from first to second. Almost like when I push the car really hard the clutch would get very easy/soft. I thought it was just all in my head because it seemed fine 99% of the time.
Well this time it seems to have stayed this way. After cooling off in the garage and trying to back out it got worse. The clutch feels extremely soft and almost like it doesn't want to come back up off the floor. It feels like engagement point is almost down on the floor compared to before.
Goes into gear ok but it does have a bit of vibration backing out of the driveway. No visible leaks or unusual noises or anything and the engine is running smooth.
Anyway, the car is on its way to Moorespeed in Austin. I've been getting ready to do a pro-active clutch/IMSR but wasn't expecting it so soon. Hoping for simple hydraulic issue but wouldn't cry if I needed a new clutch.
well I just got an update...sounds like the likely candidate is busted pressure plate. Seems the hydraulics are good.
I was expecting to do the clutch soon anyway so this isn't the end of the world. It is just bad timing finance wise.
Silver lining is that I'll be getting an IMSR while they are in there.
I had fingers break off of my pressure plate. Didn't notice change in stiffness so much as the terrible whirring noise it made with the clutch in. It happens. Mine broke almost as soon as I got the car.
Definitely op for an IMS upgrade install while you have the clutch out.
I've heard that the squishy pedal feel can also be a symptom of old tranny fluid. but I understand your case since the pedal would not rise back to it's normal position. My PO had the pressure plate changed when he did the clutch which was very very recently. And I do notice the squishy pedal after abuse. But it always returns to it's normal position.
I will try a tranny flush since they recommended it in the PPI last year when I purchased it, I just never got around to doing it yet.
Nope but you will cry if the AOS goes out 6 months later like mine did after a new clutch was installed. Would have been a few hundred dollars and not the $1200 it was.
Ya I know just messing around
I'm already gonna be tapped here especially if I end up needing a flywheel. Not sure if I want to extend the funds too much more.
Replace the AOS and water pump if they are original. I would do the chain tensioners *IF* they are making noise. The IMS is another story however. I personally would NOT put some aftermarket monkey part in my car.

HELP HELP HELP, i was driving and everything was fine, till i stop at the light, i tried getting on 1stgear and it wouldnt get in gear, clutch got soft and i know my car well, any ideas guys? the car is sitting at my driveway rightnow, wheres the clutch fluid located so i can check? thanks again, also im new here, thank you
Eddy- The brakes and clutch share the same resoviour. Have you ever bled the clutch? the bleeder screw is on top of the transmission. Doubt that is the issue. What year car? Miles? Daily driver? How long have you had the car? Any records? More info is needed before the guys can give advise. And lastly PICS or no soup for you.
Sneaky, i just got the car on Dec. 22nd , less than 2 weeks, i never bled the clutch before, can i do that by myself? the car is 2002 , has 80,xxx, since i got the car i drove only 7 times, and YES pics i will post them up tomorrow.
hahaha Oh while you are in there. Bang yours in part exchnage for something decent like a GT3
hahaha.. I am in full sympathy with you and only joking my friend. I am sure you will be pleased with the new upgrades.
