Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

(And they also like to pick up every piece of gravel and road debris and sling it at your paint at high speed, which you probably don't want, either.) If it's just DEs, then it's not competitive anyhow, and you might as well run your street tires for track, and get dedicated tires just for autocross.

If you want to be competitive in autocross in most clubs, you'll need Hoosier A6, but they wear out very fast; Kumho V710 are slightly slower, but last 3x as long (FWIW I run V710 for autox).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Want to run 245x40 up front and 275-295 in the rear
Live in NorCal and not too worried about wet traction since I have a stock set of 7&9x17s with Michelins for winter tires to use if I need to.
Thanks
Most manufacturers 245 x 40 tires are too wide for a 7.5" wide wheel. 225 x 40 is about the widest tire you can "safely" install on 7.5 " wheels. Check the Tire Rack specs for the particular tires you end up choosing.
SCCA or PCA autocross? Or an indie local club? If you want to be competitive in autocross in most clubs, you'll need Hoosier A6, but they wear out very fast; Kumho V710 are slightly slower, but last 3x as long (FWIW I run V710 for autox). R6, R888 and other harder r-comp track tires people like for time trials and DE need a lot of heat for optimal grip, and are hard to get up to temp for autocross. NONE of these are safe on the road if there's any water at all, as they hydroplane like mad, so driving to the track/autocross is a crapshoot if any chance of rain is forecast. (And they also like to pick up every piece of gravel and road debris and sling it at your paint at high speed, which you probably don't want, either.) If it's just DEs, then it's not competitive anyhow, and you might as well run your street tires for track, and get dedicated tires just for autocross.
In short: if you want just one set of tires, you're going to have to compromise with a sticky street tire. Hankook RS3 would probably work very well for you. 225/40R-18 in the front and 285/35R-18 would be about the largest you could fit on those wheels. If you get dedicated track/autocross wheels, you'd have more flexibility, but doublecheck what's legal for your class before spending any money lest you inadvertently bump yourself into an uncompetitive class.
