Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
Have you looked around for a set of used seats instead of recovering?
Leading evidence: 'Use seats instead of recovering' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use seats instead of recovering' (1 discussions). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Like many here, I have lusted after a 911 since childhood, but being of meager means, it has taken awhile. Yes, it has been worth the wait as this is a great car (in my mind); 2000 996, 126,000 miles, 36,000 on a factory rebuild.
This was the PO's DD so it is in need of some TLC, seats to be recovered, just mounted up a new set of Comp TAs. The paint is great from 10 feet, but lots of chips up close. Shocks are beat and the brakes will need attention in the future. No matter this is by far the most fun I've had in a car since I stopped racing my FF.
But, as you can see by the images, the car has decided it would like a new water-pump to solidify our relationship. So, armed with great knowledge from this forum, a new pump is on it's way from Suncoast and I'm trying to make time on the master bath renovation so I can get some quality garage time this Saturday.
Then the fun can begin, the seats go out, the cans to Fister, maybe those bigger rotors and short shift kit?
Oh yeah, I may good ahead and let the pumpkins go, but being a Clemson University grad, I like Oragne...

Good for you, nice intro and pics of your Porsche. Sounds like you also have a great attitude, welcome to the forum. Have you seen the Youtube vid of the water pump relacement?
Thanks guys -
Barn996, attitude makes the difference in the Life we get to live, I'm lucky boy and I know it! Yes, the YouTube was what pushed me over the edge to take on the water-pump, that and the major cost for either Stealer or Indy to do. I bought a bunch of other parts for what would have gone to the installer.
Ivangene - Yeah, at first I was wishing I has a gray or linen interior, but it has really grown on me over the few weeks I've had the car.
We have an SUV in approximately that color. Of all the cars I've fixed with Dr. Color Chip, that shows the best results. Good blend and easily passes the 3-feet test. Might try that if the chips bother you.
Congratulations on a beautiful car!
In fact, when the seats are redone, I'm having the inserts done in a nice tartan plaid, I think it's Black Watch, it should look pretty cool. And I'm thinking of having the console painted black and going with either black / Carbon Fiber / or Aluminum for the shifter & Em Brake. 'Cuz yeah, it needs a bit of toning down
Nice! Welcome. Water pump isn't too bad. I did it 3 weeks ago. There are less expensive places to buy an OEM water pump (from a P-car dealer). Send me a PM if you want to know more.
Have you looked around for a set of used seats instead of recovering? It may be a cheaper route. I have seen pairs of then selling foe under $1K for comfort seats on ebay, craigslist etc..
Welcome to the club, thankx for the pix, enjoy the miles and smiles.....and if there are any questions, don't be shy, there are plenty of guys in here who will help, offer advice, get you on your way. Good luck and have a great summer of motoring!
Welcome to the family! This is a particularly great place to hang out. We are all your buds, here.
I, for one, think your plaid inserts idea is a totally awesome idea. I can't wait to see the finished product.
I had plaid inserts on my Recarro seats in '86 GTI ... some one stole all the seats out of the car one evening - cost the insurance $4K to replace ! but yes, they did look good ....
