Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dealer called me at lunch and said they took the old IMS out without a problem and it looked good, but IT WAS LEAKING! I believe that is the first stage of a problem, so now I feel much better about spending the money on the IMSR! The car will also be getting a new RMS, cluth, water pump and AOS. Oh and a new shock for the rear deck lid, I hear it hit the tech on the head. Last expensive part a new coolent cap. Can't wait to get the bill!

I hate to think what a dealer would charge for that job!

POST 3Original post

Dealer installing a non-Porsche part... interesting dont think of it as spending money as much as taking propper care of a Porsche, it just cost money sometimes - good job!

POST 4Original post

Ya, very interesting how they installed it for you! I asked that question for kicks at my dealer and I never even got a response. The bill will be steep for sure... but rest assured after.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The estimate is under $4K. I'll give your the final total when I get the bill. I believe I was told this is their 3 IMSR this year. And yes it is a pcar dealer.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The dealer was less than a local Indy I got a price from.

I'm not surprised. I am finding that dealer pricing is really become more resonable for both parts and service. Yes, if you live in Yuppieville (or California) many dealers will try to gouge out your eyes, but many dealers are seeing the value in offering free inspections before a locally sponsored PCA DE event and while their parts prices aren't as good as sonnet/sunset/suncoast, they are way below MSRP. At least that has been my experience.

I am in NJ, we have quite a few P-car dealers, one will rape you just as bad as the next. No value to be found at the dealers.

Our dealer in Omaha is doing the IMS retrofit, in fact they are even keeping some of the kits in stock, and they advertised a special on it for a short time.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Jake (flat 6) or Charles (LN) if you read this post a BIG THANK YOU! for a solution to replacing an engine! Even the a dealer says you have a better solution than Porsche has come up with.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Picked up the car at lunch, total came to just under $3,900. You have to love a new clutch!

POST 13Original post

Not a bad price for all of that. Local dealer here also has done the IMS for one car.

And... Town Paul Miller (best of the bunch but still NJ dealer prices) Prestige up in Nanuat used to give me great prices on parts until Jack D bought them and that was that.

Rector Porsche of San Francisco does the same for every RMS or IMS job- they order the LM engineering part!
