Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Adjust rebound can be a chore' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Adjust rebound can be a chore' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.

Also, I've never seen anyone using an underdrive pulley for street use only.

Jake, have you used your UD pulley on street driven 996?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What bolt on accessories would be worth spending money on for a C2? Have short throw shifter, and silicone intake tube that runs from the stock air box. Has anyone tried those replacement airbox covers? Want to get some Fister D mufflers to get a sportier sound. Do those give you any performance gains? Lowering springs, swaybar kits, shocks/coilover kits? Any really big weight saving items?
The best bang for your buck has to be the Flat 6 underspeed pulley that I fitted to my Boxster S. It gave a nice increase in the low to medium rev range where I drive most. I assume that you can fit these to the 996 engine!
A bit of bling was fitting 7mm wheel spacers and stainless steel lug bolts which don't rust like the originals do.
The majority of what I have bolted on as we've developed engine combinations has HURT performance. Today we are making our hige power with nothing more than the UD pulley and all other stock ancillaries.
Everyone is diferent, most of our purchasers are older drivers that hate drones, flat spots in the RPM range and etc.
Option 2: Suspension (X74, RoW M030, or other), GT3 front LCAs, pro alignment, Euro GT3 seats, Wevo 997SS motor mounts, lighter wheels (assuming you don't already have '02 lightweights) with fresh top-tier tires, remove any heavy aftermarket subwoofers and amplifiers.
Option 1: Go to a five DE's this year and get some quality instruction.
Either way your ride will be transformed.
. Why do you hate on the pipes? I know how you older folks get.
BTW: it isn't that loud. maybe spending 8 years around jet engines has something to do with it...
makes the pump run slower than it normally does - they change the diameter of the pulley and the speed is reduced... at high rpm (tracking esp) saves the pump
I think
To the OP: what type of driving? It will make the advice more relevant if we know whether you are driving street or track (or both).
Also, I've never seen anyone using an underdrive pulley for street use only. On the track it helps keep the power steering pump from overheating, but (IIRC) it also reduces other accessories alternator output, so your battery might not stay fully charged. It would be interesting to see what the power improvement is though.

Mostly street driving. Some track days. Street driving here is climbing several thousand feet up winding mountain roads. My daily commute has 1000' vertical in about 1.5 miles. We also have long winding canyon roads. This is a great place to own a Porsche
Ferdinand, can you say that all a little slower? I'm new to this all and don't know what all that means. I'm interested in starting down the mod trail, despite the various warnings that have appeared on this forum. Thanks, q
if you can get a hold of a 996GT3 short shifter.... they are more refined than the B&M short shift kit. Have no experience in the 997 shifter.
x74 suspension.... these are factory spec, rather than trying to dial in a spec with PSS9. Its more plug and play. PSS9 is nice if you want double duty for street/track... but adjusting the the rebound can be a chore.
RS motor mounts for more pronounced feedback of shifting/sound/feel.
Gt3 swaybars to dial in under/oversteer and body roll.
High flow air filter with stock airbox, for a nice sound and more air.
high flow sports cats (x-pipe 200 cel)... for sound and performance. Rather than modding the stock cans (no performance gain). These X-pipes will give you gains. Though the fister d are cheap enough, but may be to loud together.
I wont even put on an aerokit on and just keep it stock looking.

If its just a street car its overkill... Spend the money on a track day and learn what the car can do before you start spending big $$$
