Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use rims' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean glass bead, send' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

It used to be that we would have boxes full of parts to clean, glass bead, send to the polisher then off for plating.

Suggestion
If it's true chrome rather than a ceramic powder or vapor deposition, I'd highly recommend removing it.

$$$ is very tight and I'd love to change the chrome twists as well.

I am probably going to paint using the "black chrome" option above.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Car I'm getting has factory chrome turbo twist wheels. I was wondering if it is posible to powdercoat over the chrome or have the chrome removed? Would it be easier to sell these and find another set? Would like for the wheels to be black or silver and not shiny.
If it's true chrome rather than a ceramic powder or vapor deposition, I'd highly recommend removing it. This can easily be done with muratic acid. Don't breathe the fumes, wear eye and clothing protection and rubber gloves. Make sure you understand the process before trying it at home. Very corrosive and dangerous.
My Turbo Twists are Chrome as well! I am in the same predicament.
I have researched this and problem with powder coating the chrome is this:
chrome adds material to the allow - increasing weight in order to make it stick.
Powder coating will add more material to stick on the chrome - adding even more weight.
So best option is find someone to remove the chrome (expensive), buy new wheels, or paint.
I am probably going to paint using the "black chrome" option above.
I had a set of chrome RUF speedlines powdercoated without any problems. Not sure what their prep process was as to if they stripped them first or not, but there was no problems with the finish.
BLACK is the new CHROME
It used to be that we would have boxes full of parts to clean, glass bead, send to the polisher then off for plating. Now, we are removing more chrome and having it blacked out, anodized, or powder painted.
