Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have decided after reading the many posts on short shift kits to go with the Ruf kit on my 00 996. I contacted Weissach which seems to be the only place to purchase this kit, but was surprised when they wanted copies of my drivers license and front and back copies of my credit card along with other information. I am hesitant to release all this info for fear of identity theft. Could anyone please tell me where they purchased the Ruf kit, or did you successfully purchase it through Weissach with no problems.
Thanks,
Joe C
Hey Joe. I was going back and forth with the many post as well on which short shift kit to go with. I ended up with just going with the B&M and can't say enough about it. Paid $199 and had it installed for $90.00. What a difference.
I would have the same concerns about giving copies of my licence and cc. Sound's a little too weird. I would just go with a B&M if you don't have your mind totally set. Othersise I think you can order from RUF directly. http://www.ruf-porsche.de/ I was going to order Aluminum Pedals from them and they sent me a whole price sheet.
I went with the B&M short ****er because
B&M shortens 30 % and you do not have to do anything to the cables except reconnect them.
Porsche uses a 33% shorter shifter on GT3Cup cars
Porsche feels anymore then that puts excess load pressures on engagement of internal shifter shaft pins & gear fork pins. I got mine from Bobby at Foreign Affiars if you tell him your from Rennlist he only charges you $ 199.00
I also went with tht B&M and am very happy.
However, I understand Weissach's request for the cc and drivers copies.
International credit card fraud is a sport in itself and his having a copy of the card proves that you have the card in your posession and the drivers liscense proves you are who you say you are, plus gives them a better chance at tracking you down if you are a crook.
It seems extreme, but I'd guess he's been beat more than a few times.
We've taken a few hits through the years and we are very, very careful. I hope we never have to go to the extreme that weiisach is asking, but you never know.

It's amazing to me how quickly I can get a reply to any question on this board. Thank you all very much. Cableguy I did try to order direct from Ruf as you suggested but was unable to with their website. As all of you suggested it looks like I too will be going with B & M and will be contacting Foreign Affairs as they seem to have the best price.
Thanks
Joe C.
Joe for whats its worth, its for your protection that they ask for your drivers license and Copy of your credit card. I have purchased many items from them including the RUF short shifter. Don't let the reason of sending them some simple info change your mind of going with the B&M. I went with the RUF for a couple of reasons. First it installs under the car at the trasmission therefore the installation was quick and only 30 minutes. B&M takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours, and you have to cut out a factory plastic piece, so if you change your mind and ever want to go back, you have to buy this piece and spend another 1 1/2 hours to remove and go back to stock. The RUF offers 30 40, & 50% reduction. I have mine set at 40%, its great, no notchiness and very smooth. I've heard that the B&M is slightly more difficult to shift, meaning it takes a little more effort to shift. Ask for Andrew at weissach he is great to work with, also if you do order from him ask for the updated installation directions.
