I have ordered a double din radio/nav for my car since my double din alpine nav screen is very out of date and can't be updated and my radio has stopped working. I now have the climate control in the bottom slot of the lower console with the radio above it. Once I put the double din nav/radio in the upper console, I want to move the climate control to the upper slot of the lower console and add a console storage shelf or cubby to the bottom slot. Will the climate control and cubby fit this way, or does the climate contol have to be on the bottom and the shelf above it in the lower console? Anyone have any pics of what I want to do? I need to order the console storage cubby and didn't realize they are different for the bottom and top slots. So before I order the cubby, I need to make sure it will work this way. Thanks in advance.
I've seen photos of an installation where the climate controls were in the top slot of the bottom console, but the trim piece had to be custom made to fit. It didn't look good. I'd stick with the lower slot for the climate controls with the cubby right above them.
Couple little tips .... Make sure when you replace the storage bin you get the right one -- there is an upper and a lower one and they are not the same size.
Also, extracting the CD storage unit is very easy if you do it right. Open all of the storage slots, grab the rings and tug very gently. It will pop right out. Not something you need or want to use removal tools on.
Mav- I ordered the Pioneer avic z120bt, after much debate between the pioneers and the kenwoods. The nav isn't as important to me as the functionality and speed of the interface.
Dennis- Thanks. I've never seen the setup that way thats why I thought I'd ask. I guess there is a reason everyone puts the cubby at the bottom and the ac at the top in the lower console.
Zurichgnome- Thanks for the tip. I already have a double din nav only display in the upper half, so I never had the cd holder in the bottom. The bottom half just had the ac control and the radio. The cubby is to take the place of the radio spot.
