While I used a flexible primer, I used a regular spray bomb from a location automotive paint shop and the bumperettes have held up well, including a couple of low force impacts.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive decided to paint the bumperettes using the steps in provided by Fergus. My paint is Arctic Silver and I need suggestions/input on what type of spray paint would be the closes match. Any and all input are welcome. Thanks, Charles

POST 2Original post

Go to a body shop and have your exact paint colour made! Best way! Spray gun.

POST 3Original post

I've always had trouble matching silver. It may cost a bit more than DIY, but I'd consider painted pieces from bumperplugs.com I've always been really happy with paint quality I've received from them and they do bumperettes.

POST 4Original post

+1 on bumperplugs.com! You have 93 posts and I'm sure you heard of them. Perfect finish.

POST 5Original post

I think if you go to the hardware store and buy a spraycan, you will have a constant reminder that you tried it on the cheap. You'll be lucky if it's even close. Bumperplugs or body shop, IMO.

POST 6Original post

For bumperettes, you need a mix of paint, and flex, or the paint will flake off as soon as you touch it! I got mine from Bumperplugs. Expensive, but worth saving the trouble of painting!

POST 7Original post

just goto a body shop and dont try to do it your self. then they will be responsable.

POST 8Original post

Kazual, order your painted bumperettes from Bumperplugs today. You'll have 'em, and be done & happy by the weekend! Excellent quality, workmanship and customer service.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ordered.... Hell, i'm too busy to paint, dont know what I was thinking.

Smart move! You will be very pleased. Eric does outstanding work.

POST 13Original post

That's an exaggeration... While I used a flexible primer, I used a regular spray bomb from a location automotive paint shop and the bumperettes have held up well, including a couple of low force impacts. Disagree, this is great low risk DIY. At most you are out of pocket $50 and with a bit of patience you will get it right.

POST 14Original post

Fergus, what was the brand of flexible primer you used on your bumperette's? I'm about to do this myself as well and knew the primer was key. Appreciate any tips you can give. Cheers, Scott

Second that body shop recommendation. Arctic silver has no color. The color comes from the size/shape/orientation of the metal particles in the paint. To get the right size/shape of metal particles in the paint you have to use one of the Porsche approved paints: Standox, Spies-Hecker or Glasurit. To get the orientation requires the skill of an experienced painter and the proper paint application system. Sincerely, Macster.

POST 16Original post

The other thing you could consider is having Bumper Plugs do your painting. They specialize in this sort of stuff, and probably have an exchange program. They do extremely good work.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
