This is not a probability of success.

I only broke down and bought a new '03 coupe after having tried unsuccessfully to find a late model used 996 equipped the way I wanted it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Potential new member seeking the advice of you experienced hands. I've found a 2002 Coupe equipped just right, 7700 miles, $61K. I'm in the process of scheduling PPI. Spoke to the dealer servicing the car (not the seller) and it has been serviced twice, first for a bad left front wheel bearing at 4K, and next to have the cam resealed at 6K. Should either of these issues be seen as a deal killer, assuming PPI is clean? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a million, Steve

POST 2Original post

Well, it's still under warranty for some time, which is a good thing. I would ask the dealer to confirm in writing that he has performed all the TSBs that are applicable. Those 2 items you mention sound unusual though. Is the price right?

POST 3Original post

Neither of these are unusual. In fact, the cam cover leak could likely be put in the "usual" category. Porsche has several new parts to address this one. Sounds like a good car at a reasonable price.

POST 4Original post

Wow! Sounds like a deal to me. I only broke down and bought a new '03 coupe after having tried unsuccessfully to find a late model used 996 equipped the way I wanted it. If you've found one with the equipment that you want, the problems identified sound pretty minor. Plus, with a good bit of the factory warranty remaining, sounds like you can't go wrong. Good luck!
