Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

IIRC, the MAF can't be installed backwards, but it may not be seated fully in the opening in the intake manifold or the sealing o-ring got damaged and either of these conditions can result in an air leak.
Leading evidence: 'Install backwards' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install backwards' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Since the MAF was the last thing touched I'd be sure this was installed correctly.

But you'll know when the AOS needs to be replaced but it can need replacing at an inconvenient time.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Suggestion
To help seat this what you can do is remove the MAF handling it with care and use a bit of vegetable oil on the o-ring to help it slip home more easily.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So a little while ago i replaced the MAF sensor. the next day the check engine light came on, it has been idling a little rough, especially the first start of the day.
My mechanic thinks it might be a faulty sensor so we are going to try and replace that first.
These are the codes that popped up though
P1128
1130
0300
0305
i believe the last 2 are a misfire code? why would a bad maf cause this?
Im not sure how you can tell, Ive never done it.... but, I think you can install these backwards.... Shouldnt your mechanic fix this since he installed it.
I dont know the other codes but ı am living now with p0300 and p0305.
I say my problems in my thread if you want.
Firsly to fix - P0300 misfire problem. But p0305 5. cylinder problem so I think and My porsche service
make firstly change the cylinders of the spark plugs , coil pack , and injections.
These are must be making in order of. and you must test your car. Firstly the spark plugs places change.
5 cylinder to 6 cylinder. and you will drive. İf the code is change p0306 - 6. cylinder the problem is in
spark plugs but problem continue you must change places coil pack and injections.
If its continiue service see in the catalitic convector by camera. and if there is good.
you must try to other ways firsly all the pipes must be controlled for leak.
and after
you will make a test to your induction manifold. You can buy a spray.Spray parfum.
and open your engine . Start your car. When its working you must start to press to deodoran.
But you must press to deodorant to the right place of your engine. there is place of induction manifold.
If there is something change , voice or cycle. we understand the problem is in induction manifold.
And it is still same..All the codes are same like mine. You must to go to service. And they must look in to the engine.
But ı want to say again these things only for p0300 p0305 like me.
I dont know the other codes.
I hope I help.

A bad or wrong MAF might cause the symptoms. You can disconnect the MAF at the wiring harness, clear the error codes, and drive the car normally and see if the error codes return. If they do...Not the MAF.
Now if you're driving the car and the symptoms get worse, you are through with your diagnostics. Shut the engine off pronto and arrange to get the car flat bedded to a qualified shop for expert analysis/repairs.
Since the MAF was the last thing touched I'd be sure this was installed correctly. (While you have it out write down the part number.)

But my guess is there's an air leak. The P1128/P1130 codes signal both banks are their enrichment limit. The P0300 is general misfire error code while the P0305 is a misfire at cylinder #5. The misfires can arise from a too lean condition.
Other sources of an air leak: the oil filler tube cap is leaking; an AOS is going bad; the oil filler tube has a crack; are a few of the ones that come to mind easily.
Sincerely,
Macster.
replaced the MAF sensor today.. seems fine so far. My mechanic said the o2 Sensors might need replacing as well . car has about 80k km on it..
The AOS should i just replace it as well? its most likely original
80km is not that many km.
O2 sensors will let you know when they need to be replaced.
Or you can just replace them. Ideally you want to replace sensors in pairs so the adaptation based on the sensors is balanced (as it can be) between cylinders banks.
IOWs, a new sensor on one bank and an old one on the other bank and the bank to tbank adaption values will likely be different and because of the difference in the age of the sensors. The difference may not be earthshaking though.
The AOS can fail at any time but 80km (50K miles) is a bit light on miles for the AOS to act up. But you'll know when the AOS needs to be replaced but it can need replacing at an inconvenient time.
But it is closer to the end than the beginning. Your call.
As long as neither the sensors nor the AOS are showing signs of needing attention for now I'd just drive the car and verify everything is ok.
Establish a base line, get to know the car again and then think about the AOS or sensors.
Sincerely,
Macster.
Well light is back on ... the car still runs fine but the same thing the rpms vary between 600-800 when idling.
Durametric tool comes monday so maybe that will give me a better idea.
