Hi all,my C4 tip has today started smoking on startup and the tickover has risen unexpectedly,I've been advised that it's probably the AOS and it's possibly an engine out on a tip.Not news I wanted to hear but has anyone done this job on a tip? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You've got the worst combo for AOS. Drop driveshaft and remove tranny to replace AOS. The other method would be from the top removing driver side manifold...

and to drop the tranny the top end of the motor has to come apart to access the starter to remove the torque converter bolts.... yup its a job... IIRC it can be done from the top without removing the trans, but its tight....anyone confirm? I did mine that way but had a C2 3.4

Mine just went and my indie charged me 10 hours labor. I decided to replace with the Porsche Motor sports part . 5 times the cost but I supposedly will never have to worry about it again.
