Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

I'm also wondering about this: as I understand, the reason to change exhaust is to improve the sound (generally louder is better to a point), but is there also horsepower to be gained?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there someplace on the net that has a comparison of different exhaust systems for the 996 I recently purchased a 2000 C4 and the first thing that I want to change is the exhaust. I'd like a little more aggressive sound. Any and all suggestions are appreciated

POST 2Original post

Fister D sport mufflers sound great and they are relatively inexpensive. I love mine.

POST 5Original post

PSE (electronic install to go quiet) with 200 cell X pipe by FVD.

POST 6Original post

FisterDs are a great choice unless you are after weight savings as well over OEM.

POST 7Original post

I am very happy with my 2000 C4 TechArt Header & Exhaust System. It is Not Loud if that is what you want - it is sharp and has a great Growl as you get on it. But no BOOMing at speed and very easy to cruse at any speed and enjoy the sound without being over done. Plus it adds (?) 15 HP. Now it is NOT cheep - retail is over $5000 for Headers plus Mufflers and Tail Pipes.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I'll check them out. Where is the best place to shop for this exhaust system with the best prices

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Where is the best place to shop for this system TIA

POST 12Original post

Cargraphic, headers, cats and sport mufflers..

POST 13Original post

Cargraphics do sound great - I agree. However, they are pretty loud compared to Fister D sport mufflers. If I wanted something louder, I would probably go with Cargraphics.

I'm also wondering about this: as I understand, the reason to change exhaust is to improve the sound (generally louder is better to a point), but is there also horsepower to be gained? I looked on the Fabspeed site and they've got several options, some over $5K. Is there a comparison between Fabspeed, Fister D and the other options mentioned here, or are they different animals? Thanks for your help..q

For sound comparisons, try youtube, there are tons of clips with 996's with sports exhausts.
