Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Since nobody seems to be interested in checking it out in person, I decided to post a few pics
A fast and clean car, 20k miles w/x50 package. If you're in the area, you're welcome to drop by and take a look at it, just drop me a PM.
It's owner (good friend and Rennlist member) got tired of it's power, so amongst other things, I'm taking the turbos off...
Here's a teaser;
Pee test candidate for sure is what I'd say. Maybe we should suggest he just swap his 996 engine over for the turbo hehehe. Lateral transfers so to speak.
Taking off the diverter valves;
by the way, those remote hose clamp pliers are a huge help doing these...
another look;
won't be using these anymore...
Hah, I'd posted this on the GT2 board where I'd admitted the car was getting upgraded. I wanted to give any enthusiasts the opportunity to drop by and check it out... As I've said before, the car's quite fast as it is, but should be to another level when done, and work's progressing nicely.
Anyway, here's some pictures of the progress today:
exhaust out:
oxygen sensors getting swapped (important not to mix front vs. aft sensors):
new wastegate actuators (don't ask how I got a hold of new ones)!
It was already struggling for traction in first gear, it's should be a fair bit faster still. It's impressive how usable the power is at these levels in a 996 turbo compared to older cars...
Hah, yeap quite the transformation. I was doing a head job, new gas tank/lines, etc. on this Westfalia last week:
here's the 911 turbo just past the halfway point:
oh my that was SO much fun... :P
Looks aside, this thing is seriously fast. It makes my 996 (MKII) seem like... it has half the power, which isn't far from the truth. It's a perplexing experience, so drama free but incredibly fast, a tool for driving fast, as they say...
I imagine a lot of you already know this, but those side vents force feed the intercoolers, coming up above the wheels. The intercoolers sit perpendicular to the ground, and are separated from the turbos with aluminum heat shielding, very neat stuff. All charge pipes have aluminum fittings and o-rings on each end, and snap in for a positive fit. The intercooler assembly comes off as one unit including all the bracing, shielding, ducting, etc. I like cars that are well thought out!
