Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suspected cause
Probably a good idea to replace both rear tires while you're at it.
Leading evidence: 'good idea' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'good idea' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check mfg date' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

As I change lanes on the freeway I feel a huge thud on the passenger side, nothing in the road.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I load up the car for the airport and leave 3 hrs to spare. As I change lanes on the freeway I feel a huge thud on the passenger side, nothing in the road. 2 mins later car starts to sound like a flat so I get off the freeway and pull into a garage. Yes flat tire, get can of fix a flat and blow it up. 3 miles to the airport. Start driving again, rear tire (the flat one) starts feeling like it's bouncing, so I pull over and take a look, nothing to see.
I get back in the car , same thing so I pull over again, this time when I look under the car at the back wheel I see a huge bulge in the sidewall. Wholly crap.
Car is loaded with luggage so spare tire and jack are out. I call the wife, tell her to get the emergency rescue kit ready as I continue to limp at 20mph to the airport.
She calls back ready to hit the road just as I get to the first car park at the airport. So I tell her not to worry we will deal with it when I get back, i.e. Taxi home and then go swap the wheel.
Get to check-in. All good, get past security, all good. Get to the lounge, flight delayed 4 hrs.
Is this a sign from above? Should I just go home and call it a day?
If you don't have AAA, sign up now and wait out the waiting period while you're out of town. Wouldn't it be a crazy coincidence if you need a tow as soon as you land???
Any shops willing to pull in there a couple of times to effect a fix? Best would be another PCA member who could get it fixed while you are gone. Women aren't too tire change and haul to shop friendly.
No worries guys it's all under control. I fly back on the red eye, taxi home then I'll take my spares up and get the car out of the carpark it's in just now. It's all secure in one of the airport car parks.
I have Amex platinum, that covers road side assistance as part of the card.
It was all that talk about flat tires last week that jinxed me.
Some days it really doesn't pay to get out of bed...at least it's an easy fix w/ no serious damage and nobody got hurt. Probably a good idea to replace both rear tires while you're at it.
I would bet money they are old tires... check MFG date

Well back from the business trip and I get more bad news, take the wheels into discount tire to order new tires and BINGO, the bad tire that looked like crap, i'll post pics later, is actually a cracked wheel in 3 or 4 different places.
Now looking for a new rear wheel ,
Sick tire for sure. Too bad about the wheel too. We are talking about low profile tires any time its replacing tires. Maybe thats why porsche made the cars handle so nicely to dodge potholes
