Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I know of a great mechanic I used for years that can do the PPI for you if you are interested.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Not a bad looking car. There should be a 2 yr warranty with the factory rebuild, and it has no
dints
. I would look at it and if it felt right I would get a PPI. There may be a few things that you could use as leverage for negotiation.
Did the seller put in the engine? I would check with the dealer that did the work to find out why replacement was required... If it was making metal what other service was done ie oil lines, cooler etc....
I cant see it
new suspension... I would ask querstions, but IMO a nice 996 WITH a fresh motor in good shape is still worth paying for. I think its priced fair if it checks out. Sure you can dicker on the price and try and lower it, but the most important part of the search is not the price, its the car
go drive it, get a PPI and post your findings... then buuy it and start figuring out how to molest it
I'd suspect a curb hopping episode since the wheels, suspension and engine would take some hits. Which is exactly what has been replaced.
Look for chalk marks from frame realignment, missing plastic covers over entire underside of car, uneven suspension mountings comparing sides, rolled/dented side skirt areas along with jacking point holes dented, bottom of front luggage area dented and possibly reused exhaust that has dents. Oh yah and if the rear axles have been raplaced with new. I'd really thing the car slid into a curb if one or both were replaced.
It's a good price as far as I think seeing that it had a newish engine and suspension.
Andrew, I live about 30-35 miles from Potrero Hill. I know of a great mechanic I used for years that can do the PPI for you if you are interested. If I am in the City I might even check her out for you if you want. Sounds like he has all the documents which is good but you never know...
Did you guys noticed this car has been lowered? Wonder what did he put?
