Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This might sound like a dumb question but........... Does anyone know the correct routing of the throttle cable from the engine to the connector ? I just reinstalled my engine and it seems too tight .My current placement is from the throttle body over the plenums and down .Went thru the service manuals and can't find any pictures or diagrams . Thanks Dave

POST 2Original post

I had the same issue. I had it go over the plenums, little to the right of the center. When you go under the car make sure it's not bound up on the clutch slave. I think it's supposed to go below the slave. That's where it bound up on me twice. And if you need to reroute it you can tie a string to the cable, pull the cable underneath the car and then use the string to pull it back to the throttle body. Check underneath the car, it's the easiest place to figure it out. It's tight if the throttle does not hit the stop of the throttle body. If it's not on the stopper the car will idle high.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks-the path at the slave cylinder is wrong . Dave

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ed -the string worked too well .When I was pulling the throttle cable thru snagged the vacum line for the secondary intake .In case it happens to someone else the fix isn't too bad ..........remove throttle body the t intake -loosen clamps on secondary -unscrew the starter and then rotate secondary to get at the vacum fitting . The moral to this story is take a picture of control line placements when disassembling

POST 5Original post

Good stuff. I didn't stick on the line luckily. I pulled the vacuum line when I was reinstalling the plenum, you can reach up underneath without removing the starter, but you have to know where to shove that line back in. I don't think someone who hasn't seen the secondary intake valve (actually named resonance tube). Just in time for the weekend! If you get a CEL from the vacuum line once its fixed the CEL will go off after a while.
