This is not a probability of success.

Anyway, I've got a broken odometer reset / brightness stem on my instrument cluster, and bought one from Brian in Newfoundland (found his details on this board, in fact - thanks again Brian!)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK, I've found lots of threads about how to remove the instrument cluster, and I know that search is my friend... Anyway, I've got a broken odometer reset / brightness stem on my instrument cluster, and bought one from Brian in Newfoundland (found his details on this board, in fact - thanks again Brian!) It just arrived, and I would love to get it installed. While I am sure that I have more than enough information on how to get the cluster off, I need more information about how to actually remove the broken stem, and replace it with my new one. If anyone has any advice on how to safely open the instrument cluster so that I can get it in there, please post - and thanks!

POST 2Original post

here is an old post of mine when I removed and totally took it apart https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...age-reset.html to remove the cluster, simple... 1/ pop out the little microphone cap on the left side of the cluster with a small screwdriver, you will see a screw behind that 2/ remove your hazard button surround 3/ press the hazard so that they blink !IMPORTANT! they need to blink, Imean button need to be depressed or it will break when you pull it. 4/ pull the hazard button, it is hard but it will come off, you will see another screw there. once the screws are off, you can simply pop the whoel thing upward. carefull with 1/ the wire are short behind, to unplug them you press on the trigger then there is a whoel lever that need to be moved 360 degree 2/ ! IMPORTANT ! put a towel on yrou steering column to put the towel right under the cluster when it is lifted as it got sharp edge and would scratch when removed...unless you are a surgeon search the forum, plenty of diy for cluster removal, but you should be able to get by with this. the part you want to replace is very easy to replace, it is loose in the cluster, it should be no problem at all. I think you only need to unscrew the first set of screw in the back of it.
