Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, Looking for any ideas or experience you may have with this sound. It happens at startup and only since it's been cold here in Cincinnati. As soon as the idle falls to normal, the noise stops. I just caught it in the video and it dies off. Then all seems normal. No CELs, nothing running hot, nothing out of the ordinary. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaQBSj0KHM8 2003 996 c4s

POST 3Original post

Sounds like the sound my secondary air pump was making. Its just to the left of the snorkel tube. I plan to take mine apart this weekend and look at it when I replace my water pump. Several other posters mentioned that they blew dust out of theirs and the squealing went away when I inquired about the same symptoms.

POST 4Original post

air pump for sure.. mine does the same thing..

POST 5Original post

At the end of the video the electric motor mounted diagnal is the source. Looks like red wires leading into it. Pretty much bottom left corner when you open the lid.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys. very helpful. So, do i just blow this thing out with compressed air?

DO a search on here where the fix has been discussed. I don't remember since it hasn't happened to me

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
