Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Yes, I had one shop owner who installed the UAOS System on a 996.2 without even pulling the intake or "bitch bolt" .
Leading evidence: 'Install uaos system' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check aos accordian boot too' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

When we changed our AOS on 3.6 with Tip, we lowered engine to crossmember and removed driver's side intake manifold.

BTW : the UAOS kits are on back-order for another 10-15 days, but check with LN I think they still have a few on the shelf...I have been held up waiting on a batch of the CNC Black Anodized Aluminum Accumulator parts, the Anodizer had a health issue and he was hospitalized for a bit and just got out and is behind on doing the Anodizing..

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

03, stock C2, 145K on it, driving home from work yesterday, started seeing oil smoke, pulled over immediately and had it towed to the house.
Here's what I found (passenger side)

@Porschetech3
, and everyone, seems like the cam seal popped. But why? Did the AOS fail? Do I need to drop the engine and replace AOS and seal? (would do the UAOS of course)
Or is this engine toast?
Doubt the engjne is toast. The plug popped due to crank case pressure or improper install. Check the aos accordian boot too. I would say your first diagnostic check is the aos.
Definitely check the AOS first, I have seen the frail factory rubber diaphragm tear loose and block the port, this causes the crankcase pressure to back-up and pop the big rubber plugs out...
If the AOS checks out, I would next test the "blow-by" on the engine using this test I have designed here..
https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...=engine+health
If the blow-by is higher than usual but the engine still makes good usable power and good oil pressure, the UAOS will handle the extra blow-by, and you can extend the useable life of the engine for many years.
I can also "bench test" the AOS for you if you want
Yes, I had one shop owner who installed the UAOS System on a 996.2 without even pulling the intake or "bitch bolt" . He just lowered the engine down on the crossmember and went in from the drivers side fender well and over the top of the engine to do the install...Of course he was a very skilled wrench with a wide array of tools...
@Porschetech3
, one thing I'm concerned with is that the coolant level is down about 2 inches. Never done that before. No evidence of oil in the coolant.
It has a leak somewhere. I would get a cooling system pressure tester and pressurize the cooling system to 19 psi, and wait for the leak to show itself...
Also test the cap, even if it is the newest "04" cap, test it !! It should hold up to 19psi then release and seal again at about 14psi...
The last time I saw that problem was this:
The owner DIY a GT3 throttle body upgrade. For which he had to improvise a vent hose with a straight hose. It had to make a turn and at that turn it went from a vent to a block hose. A few miles later the pressure built up inside the crank case to the point where one of the cam plug popped out and oil was pouring out all over the place.
You positive crank case ventilation system no longer vents.
When we changed our AOS on 3.6 with Tip, we lowered engine to crossmember and removed driver's side intake manifold. We couldn't access anything from the ground it was all from top of motor and very difficult lots of individual steps. Now it's ran 10k miles or so without a problem.
