Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Im not sure how they work in comparison to OE or Bosch since I replaced the wrong plugs on the car.
Leading evidence: 'Replace wrong plugs' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean specimen of a 996.2 cabrio and proceeded' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used a similar kit from FCP minus the plugs and received longer bolts in the kit.

Just picked up this very clean specimen of a 996.2 cabrio and proceeded to do a bunch of basic maintenance items.

Suggestion
It's generally recommended to use the thicker 997-style coils when replacing the 996 coils.

Wish I had a set to test with an oscilloscope on a dyno to see if they're better, worse, or the same as a new set of stock coils.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello everyone,
Figured if I was going to post, it would be to share some info to this amazing community.
Just picked up this very clean specimen of a 996.2 cabrio and proceeded to do a bunch of basic maintenance items.
Along with the plugs, I swapped out the original coils for Rennlines. The OE units were showing some hairline cracks. I did want to share with anyone considering this upgrade to have a new set of bolts since the original ones are too short. I went with a 40 length hex head because I didnt want to deal with squeezing a torx between the brace and #4 coil. It was easier to torque down and will be easier to remove down the road next plug change! While I was in there, I took a borescope into the cylinders as well. All good from what I saw One thing I liked was the little green tab that is visible when the harness is clipped in. Sometimes you dont hear the click once youve got it on, but a little peek up the rubber boot will show you that its secure.
Car runs better now; I noticed some missing on idle before, but it could have also been worn plugs or the fact that they were colder (NGK BKR7EQUP. I went with BKR6EQUP)
Hope this helps anyone interested in picking up a set!
Not a bad price even if they're no better than stock.

Im not sure how they work in comparison to OE or Bosch since I replaced the wrong plugs on the car. I just know the car runs better than it did.
An oscilloscope test would be a great way to see how these fare. I didnt mind being a guinea pig since I saw no one else reviewed them on Pelican Parts yet.
Thanks for sharing your install experience. We have recognized the need for different lengths of bolts as the original coils with the shorter bolts were superseded by an updated version with longer bolts. We are releasing an updated hardware kit sold separately for any car that still has the original design. As for the performance compared to the OEM coils;
• Longer spark duration.
• Hotter spark. This translates to an easier to burn Air/Fuel mixture.
• Higher output results allows a wider spark plug gap (which increases the spark area exposed to air-fuel.) which maximizes burn efficiency.
• Higher discharge energy which leads to better efficiency.
• Higher quality primary and secondary wind up components which results in a great voltage step up. (See secondary voltage)
• Anywhere between 10 - 20% more energy upon discharge.
I think above Rennline said they are developing a kit to update the car still with original coils to be sold separately, I think they should be part of each coil.
The need for longer bolts is not exclusive to Rennline's coils. It's generally recommended to use the thicker 997-style coils when replacing the 996 coils. The thicker coil requires longer bolts _and_ a spacer for the heat shield.
For example, the Beru coils on FCPEuro also are thicker:

That's correct. I used a similar kit from FCP minus the plugs and received longer bolts in the kit. Best part is their lifetime warranty should a coil ever fail! This reminds me that I might take them up on the offer and get some fresh spark plugs.
