Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Do the TTs and all 911s (in the same given year) share the same TipTronic transmission or are they completely different units?

POST 2Original post

The 6TT and the 996.2 use the same basic transmission. The 6TT has a stronger version of the transmission with more friction disks and steel plates. The transmission gear ratios and final drive are the same. There are variants of the 722.6 that are good for 180 ft/lb torque and variants that are good for 800+ ft/lb torque. The 722.6 was used in everything from sprinter vans to Chrysler 300's to the twin turbo AMG's.

POST 3Original post

Also the m96/7 and the mezger (gt amd tt motor) have different bellhousing patterns.

POST 4Original post

The TT has an adapter bolted to the block to make the bolt pattern match the M96.
