I know how to restore a plastic headlight but I haven't found any info on TIPS TO SPLIT THE HEADLIGHT CASING. Any pointers? There is a mark on the lens I want to take care of. Best way to heat glue? Best way to reseal? Anyone done this an can offer step by step details and I'll send to my SUPER CAREFUL and capable detailer. Thanks.

Did mine a while ago, took a fair amount of mental preps, courage, determination, fitting on clean gloves, making room around me, the BIG adventure begins. 10min in the oven at 200F degree, pry, and it went "pop' open. As easy as opening my peanut butter pot. A huge huge huge disappointment... I normally love challenges :/ Recently opened a lot of my mate's headlights. Same oven, large & flat screw driver, and a mild dose of wrist & elbow grease. Not much can go wrong in all honesty. Not sure if butyl rubber glue is still a thing but that's what I used to use when I was doing RSX headlight retrofits back in the day. Never had any complaints about leaks or condensation buildup.

Use butyl. If you glue them with epoxy etc and they fog up, you can never open them up again without breaking the lenses.

I also separated mine, thought it would be more difficult than it actually was. Put the headlight in the over at 200 degrees for 20 min. make sure it gets hot. Took out, used some strength and it popped right out.
