Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I had a VIS CF hood on my RSX-S and used aero catch pins that functioned fine for daily driving and some AutoX days.

I have always used pins as a secondary safeguard with carbon hoods after horror stories of the latches on aftermarket carbon hoods failing.

Suggestion
I'll be using only aero catch on the new hood ditching the factory mechanism / electronic popper.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just picked up a carbon fiber hood for my 99 and I need recommendation on a place that can make a custom hood stripe and where can I get stick on Porsche badge
Mike
I went with VIS hood
the stripe looks like I have to have it made I have a custom design but I wanted a stick on factory looking emblem but not a sticker more stick on emblem
I will as soon as it comes back from service
I'd be interested in weight. I have a carbon hood arriving next week and would like to compare.
Are you going to use the standard latch or go with pins / aero catch ? I have always used pins as a secondary safeguard with carbon hoods after horror stories of the latches on aftermarket carbon hoods failing. I'll be using only aero catch on the new hood ditching the factory mechanism / electronic popper.
The finish is only acceptable at best I’m not painting it but I’m having the hood redone as the finish is wavy at the right corner it hasn’t been fit yet my car is still in the shop I believe it’s 7lbs lighter

Any vinyl wrap place should be able to make you a custom stripe.
I can make my own custom vinyl decals, but stripes are more difficult.
I’m still in the learning phase.
Tex, one of these days you have to take pictures of your garage and do a show and tell. You seem to have a bunch of cool stuff that you accumulated. Still thinking about your collection of 996 rear wings. Looks like you have also have a carbon fiber front lid hanging around as well. Not to mention set of headers.
I had a VIS CF hood on my RSX-S and used aero catch pins that functioned fine for daily driving and some AutoX days. The latch hook on some (maybe most) CF hoods are only held with one or two fasteners which can loosen up relatively quickly since it's fastened right into CF. Over time wind does get between the hood and bumper so it can "flap" and wiggles around in the fastener bore. Have seen a hood fly up from this exact failure.
I bought a factory new emblem last year to replace my weathered one. If you truly want the factory look (not a sticker) and don't want to drill two holes in your hood I can see the factory one easily modifiable to meet your needs. It just has two studs on the back. Cut them off and apply some 3M double sided adhesive trim tape. If it's good enough to hold OEM emblems on other vehicles it would hold the badge on as well as the studs do.
Thanks, Im currently trying to make my garage more organized and presentable.
Ive recently given a toolbox and lots of tools to a new mechanic thats just starting out. (Friends son who graduated from HS last year)
Most recently I started better identifying where my tools and spares are stored.
Im pretty happy with the results, but the clutter still bothers me.
When everything looks better, Ill make a new thread with pictures.
