Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have the Pioneer AppRadio4 that I installed earlier this year.

I almost ran into someone today trying to find the right button.

If you want to replace your stock Becker, this is definitely the way to go.

I also found the flattest freq response using a test CD and a C-weighted meter.

I originally wanted the Pioneer NEX 8100, but Ron talked me out of it, citing overall Pioneer reliability issues, easier installation with Kenwood and Pioneer's use of thin gauge wiring.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

CAI
through Rennlist a few weeks ago and as soon as I purchased my car, I called them and ordered a double-din kit. I originally wanted the Pioneer NEX 8100, but Ron talked me out of it, citing overall Pioneer reliability issues, easier installation with Kenwood and Pioneer's use of thin gauge wiring.
So, I went with the Kenwood 9902S based on their recommendation. My requirement was Apple Car play and HD Radio.
I couldn't be happier. It was 3 hours between the time UPS dropped off the box and the time I took this picture. If you want to replace your stock Becker, this is definitely the way to go.
Very nice! Like it.
But you know we will dissect your picture in good old Rennlist fashion. I noticed you're wearing rainbow dot shoes and your car is a tip.
1. Is it convertible?
2. Are you a hairdresser by chance?
Dude, those are Van's! Skateboard shoes. Nothing like a tasty wave and sun in my hair. And a nice babe. Too bad Atlanta is m-i-l-e-s away from salt water.
Oh, it is a convertible! You better cancel your account now. The boys will be on you till the end of time.
..... Just kidding.
But, seriously, nice job. I like it! Enjoy.
Your install looks good. I have the Pioneer AppRadio4 that I installed earlier this year. I like it, but agree with you on the concerns around thin wiring and overall reliability (it can be a little flakey sometimes).
The biggest complaint I have is lack of a physical volume **** and/or physical buttons. I wish I would have gone with a model that had those. I feel like it takes too much attention away from driving to fiddle with volume, tuning, etc.
Your install looks good and really up dates the look .Congrats and enjoy the ride
I installed a Kenwood 372 using the Del Rey kit.
Custom button lum to match stock interior and a stand alone microphone were two of my goals.
Audio matters when one is driving a Tip. With a MS, the engine and exhaust provides the audio entertainment. lol
I'm betting that he's a manly Porsche guy but the tip and stereo are for the ladies.
Good god. I'm going to have to retake that picture with my wing tips and Cavelli suit.
Seriously though, I've been around here since 2003 (see my sig to the left) and this is my 3rd 911 since I bought my first in 1994, a 1983 SC Targa manual. After I sold that one with 225k miles (140k of those mine) I bought a 1992 964 coupe manual. I really miss that car, but my two sons (and my ex) insisted on a bigger car so I got a Jag XJR. I sold my 964 after putting 120k additional on the clock. Deer got my XJR which brings me to my current ride.
I make no apologies for the tip. It's very nice to leave it in M and handle the gears without killing my calves in Atlanta rush hour. And you guys are just jealous of the Cab. Just admit it and feel better.
And to that other guy looking at the 40 Jarge in Texas, will you buy the damn thing already?
I also found the flattest freq response using a test CD and a C-weighted meter. See attached. The 50-400 hz is still too loud, but at speed it evens out.
And an earlier poster had it right. I love the functionality of this radio, but it can get distracting from driving. I almost ran into someone today trying to find the right button. The more i use it, though, the less i need to look at it.
From a Macan driver? Here's what car and driver says about the macan:
"But judging by the reactions of women of a certain age to Porsches smallest ute, the Macan might just be the vehicular equivalent of wearing tight black pants in a hot room."
And no - I don't drive a Macan - it is my wife's car (who I will say looks good in black yoga pants). I am currently rolling in a 2006 Pontiac.
Care to share some details?
Year of car?
If 996.2 does it have the Bose with MOST wiring?
Cost of unit plus install?
Thanks. I have a 996.2 with MOST and the only logical solution seems to be the Denison unit to get Bluetooth and streaming while keeping the factory look, but if this were cheaper/same I would consider it! The MOST makes for one hell of a headache.....
Yes, for me, I think I got the best of all worlds. It's an '02, so I got the 3.6 and all of the other updates that went with the '02 model year, but it was pre-MOST.
I had MOST in my Jag and it was a PIA. Actually, Jag was even worse because not only was it digital, it was all fiber-optic and fully integrated into the HVAC and NAV! Talk about lock-in.
Mine came with the Bose w/4-channel amp and 6-CD changer. I special ordered the Kenwood DDX9902S with CAI's Kenwood install kit. The whole thing shipped came to ~$950. They provide a pre-wired harness that plugs into the back of the radio and connects directly to the Porsche wiring harness. So there are no wires to cut and strip and figure out what gets crimped to what. It is literally plug and play. They also provided very nice printed step by step instructions and a few YouTube videos.
CAI has figured out a MOST Replacement, but it is obviously going to be a little more time consuming and complicated. At least it's not connected to any of the auxiliary systems (that I know of).
I should mention I have no connection to CAI other than as a happy customer.
