Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used the BOSS this summer, but probably started too conservative and still have some slight holograms left to remove.

Prep - remove the wheels and wash each one with degreaser, I used simple green.

I made my own by using a black base coat and then going over the top with a silver Pearlizer.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I believe I have found my new detailing routine
. Here it goes if any one is interested in trying. Wash - Clay - Polish w/ Megs Ultimate Compound - Polish with Megs Mirror Glaze #7 - Layer Griots BOS Wax - Layer 1 (cure for 1 hour and do not remove) Layer 2 (cure over night and do not remove) Layer 3 (next morning cure for 2 hours) - buff clean using Griots spray wax to aid in removing the BOS wax. I used DA Polisher for the heavy lifting. It's a bit of a time commitment. It took me in total the better part of 3 days. Really pleased with the depth of the shine.
Thanks for sharing your regimen. I used the BOSS this summer, but probably started too conservative and still have some slight holograms left to remove.
The car looks amazing and a few days of car therapy are good once in a while!
Definitely won't stop the track action. Already got my next one planned. I'm deluding myself into thinking it will be easier to clean post track weekend.
Very nice.
My 02 is silver, polish it, don't polish it, pretty much the same.
Lately I have switched from Zaino to the Chemical Guys products.
I'm trying to talk myself into seeing a difference
Your car looks great. I would love to be able to spend that amount of time (without wife guilt-tripping me about it) to get those results.
Quick question, can you tell me more about your wheels? I have the same ones, but in the stock color. Would love to do something similar with mine. Did you have someone do them? Were they disassembled? Powder coated?
I have a Seal Grey '02 coupe, and am thinking the parts that you have as charcoal/dark grey might look really cool in gold (think BBS), and then leave the rest of the rim as brushed/polished as you have it.
Thanks for the compliment. I had the sneak the time in while she was playing tennis
.
I actually plastic-dipped my wheels. I wanted a gun metal color but couldn't find it locally. I made my own by using a black base coat and then going over the top with a silver Pearlizer. Very easy to work with. Has lasted almost two years with many track days and they still look great.

You can also get this stuff at your local autoparts store and Home Depot.
I believe total cost was around $50.
The wheels look good. Did you post in another thread when you did those? I went back and searched because I vaguely remembered seeing something, but I might be thinking of someone else. Do you have any closer pictures of the wheels?
How does the plasti-dip hold up to brake dust, aggressive wheel cleaning, etc? Ever have to touch up? How much masking was involved on those particular wheels due to the bolts, etc?

Here's the thread I started on this

To answer your questions:
No masking required. Over spray will peel off all the shiny bits. Prep - remove the wheels and wash each one with degreaser, I used simple green. Spray several coats to your liking. The first one needs to be thick so that you can peel it off when you want to remove it.
No issues with brake dust. I have used wheel cleaner with no issues. I have not tried to pressure wash, wasn't sure how it would hold up. I think it do fine.
It's really pretty fool proof. For the cost worth a try. You can always peel it off if you don't like how it turned out.
Hey OP. I happen to be at the Westin on a business trip in SAV and went to the race. I didn't see a concour of any kind. Were you there? I was looking forward to meeting another RL'er even though I don't post much. Just learn and enjoy the entertainment. I will add that a new job with a 70 mile round trip makes the 996 even more fun than before. Nice job and attention to detail BTW. I wish I had that kind of commitment.
Thanks for positive comments. It was a coral for the Oglethorpe Driving Club, over to the right if you were walking towards the area with the food, stands, etc... It started early yesterday with a C &C (7am) as part of a toys for tots toy drive. I spent most of my time in the pits with friends that were racing. Sorry I missed you.
