Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I was watching one at the track last weekend completely decimate everyone else (for reference he was running 1:16 flat pretty consistently, I ran low 1:19's with the M96), in my opinion it was the worst sounding nice car there and it wasn't even close.
Leading evidence: 'Run low 1:19's' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean overall' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If I went corvette, I'd probable build something like what Matt did:

i actually did the opposite. Had a 2011 zo6 with all the factory carbon goodies and track performance pack. I now have a 2004 C4S. They are completely different. It will be very hard to compete with the performance of the z06. Was the biggest smile machine I ever had. On the track never had a doubt about it. It was more race car than street. The daily ins and outs of the z06 were detracting. It sat so low, the carbon fiber front splitter as being sacrificed on a daily basis. It had no back seat. Once I had a kiddo the cons started to stack up and I sold it. Few years later got the C4S. Back seat and a solid daily. Not as good on the track as the vette. Not as many thrills as the vette. Driving The z06 was like holding on for dear life and loving every minute of it. The c4s. Is definitely meh when it comes to the thrills in comparison to the z06. But at this stage of life I needed more daily ease, a back seat and less likely to wrap around a pole. Once the kiddo is older and no longer fits in the back seat of the c4s, will start looking at 2 seaters again.
Charlie- I have a C5 Z06 and a C4S. I can't imagine parting with either. The joy I get from the their contrast in character is the payoff. Neither is a daily, just one on Saturday and the other on Sunday. I'd hate to have to choose.
Love the C6 Z06 for the powertrain. The rest of the car is so so
Also have alot of seat time in C5s and would say the same. Great engine and trans package... in a mediocre vehicle
... yes I say this even as a 996 owner which I would argue is a fantastic car with a mediocre engine
He eventually sold it... and to quote him
"No amount of money can un-sh!tbox a car"
One car that gets overlooked Is a C5 corvette.
Pick up a nice clean one, and call Texas Speed.
For about the price of a low end 996, you can be pushing 600HP and they are light..
Feel like seeing god? twin turbos and 1200HP. (Not for the road racing side... NA is all you want to that.. )
Cheap enough to have as a pure toy..
And you can basically have a fully analog car thats old school enough to scare you..
I think to really assess how crazy you are we need to know why you want a Corvette and what else you could get for your money. Is there a better car for you out there? I have no idea what a C6 Z06 even costs these days. For what it's worth I think Corvettes are cool cars. If you know what you're going into and will enjoy it for the driving experience then hell yeah why not try it out? It's like when a lot of us bought our 996's 10+ years ago they were cheap for a reason...
I dont think its crazy.
The C6 Z06 has amazing performance and is a good value.
You just have to get past questionable looking headlights and the cheap interior.
Nope, not crazy at all. The C6Z06 is a phenomenal sports car - I have one as a stablemate to my 996. They are both great. I could get into a lengthy in-depth comparison that would no question land me in hot water around these parts....haha. Anyone who is a fan of high-performance driving and high-performance cars who knocks a C6Z06 either has no experience of being behind the wheel of one or is simply in denial. Very few cars on the road today that the C6Z06 couldn't still go toe-to-toe with on the track
Another lucky man to own both. As others have said, they are very different, and in the best way such that you enjoy the aspects at which each excels.
Blessings counted.
Doesn't seem crazy at all. I could see myself one day having a C6Z06 as a fun track car and the Cab 4S for fun driving around KY back roads. That would make a great pair. In the meantime I'm very happy with the 4S. Let us know what you decide!
Honestly just time for something different. Was also looking at vipers but this seems like the better bet. Im running out of time to own a big honkin high performance v8. Our electric overlords are coming. Would love to have some track days and from what I read they are pretty great out of the box.
it wont be a daily, probably drive it a few times a month. Went and saw it today and it sounded great. It was deep in the gentlemans garage and couldnt take it out for a drive today. all stock. Pretty clean overall. Seriously considering it. Would need to part with the 996 to keep it garaged.
When it comes to cars that I have seen that from a performance perspective are well beyond most peoples imaginations, Z06 when driven by a good driver (rare) are on a short list (Viper ACR, GT500, Camaro ZL1, GT3, GTR) - Our cars are quick on track, but not fast. One thing they are though, easy to drive quick. My opinion, based off of the number of them I have seen that left the track going the wrong direction, maybe the ZO6 is not quite as easy to drive or maybe that extra performance stretches driver capability beyond what a lot of folks possess, or both. I really like the Viper and really, really like the ACR, they sound like **** though. Like so bad, its tough for me to get over it. I was watching one at the track last weekend completely decimate everyone else (for reference he was running 1:16 flat pretty consistently, I ran low 1:19's with the M96), in my opinion it was the worst sounding nice car there and it wasn't even close.
You don't necessarily have to part with your 996 to get the best of both worlds though... although you may have to put up with **** from people. The plus side, when you get tired of them just go to half throttle, it's all you need to put some distance and if you happen to blow it up, your local mechanic can rebuild it with parts from O'Reillys or you can buy a handful of crate motors for the price of a M96 rebuild.
Either way, good luck - sounds like you have fun in the future regardless of which specific direction you go.
I dont mind the headlights as Ive always had a thing for the F360.
the interior wasnt bad. I dont know if it was any different really than my non-leather interior.
A 4S with a 4.0 would be my vote over the Z06.
Z06s are all over the place for sale. Not hard to come by. A well cared for 4s is becoming more and more difficult to find.
Mine on wash day. The 6th gen Z does has its engine foibles in the form of fast wearing bronze valve guides in the heads. My car has aftermarket AHP heads which flow better than the stock versions. Makes 501 HP at the wheels.
Its fun 😂
