Unless you buy a newly rebuilt and repainted set of used calipers in perfect shape, you will have to rebuild them as well.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does anyone know what the best source is for front brake calipers on a 996? Specifically looking for part
996.351.426 and 996.351.425
Comp Brake makes some aftermarket ones but they were unable to tell me whether the dimensions were identical to the OE versions but they did provide me with dimensions (see diagram below). Can anyone verify whether the 996.351.426 and 996.351.425 are the same dimensions as this CompBrake diagram?

So dumb question, if you're wanting exact sizing, why not just rebuild yours?
If I were not buying the original Porsche ones, there are some solid offerings from Brembo, Wildwood, Stop-tech that fit the mounts and give you 25% or more pad area and the pads are cheaper... and bigger so stay cooler and stop better when abused..
Had to ask somehow the question had me scratching my head and wondering..
Good question! Previous owner neglected the car and the brake calipers are very beat up, cost of refurbishing is $500 at PMB and they aren't sure if they can get all the nicks and dents out of it either, so I would rather get something new or refurbish a caliper that is in better condition.
Most likely u wont find calipers cheaper. I sold my last set of factory c2 front calipers for $500ish and they didnt look great either. Most kits for our cars r big brake units and r 4x the cost.
FWIW, something to think about. Its tough to bang up the outside of porsche calipers since they are heavy duty metal unless you do alot of offroading. Same can be said for the inside metal with the exception of the pistons and rubber bits. Brake lines, connectors, etc will also wear out.
A rebuild and new bits with a new paint job will make them look and function as brand new. Porsche 996 calipers which are built by brembo are heavy duty tough. But they do need to be rebuilt every so often to make sure the pistons and seals are doing their job, especially after 20+ years. A paint job doesn't hurt either for an attractive visual.
Unless you buy a newly rebuilt and repainted set of used calipers in perfect shape, you will have to rebuild them as well.
Show some pictures. Maybe we are missing something and you have calipers that have been thru hell and back.
