Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause
1
0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'ground strap' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'ground strap' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check battery orientation' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The battery tested low on cranking amp and the tester said bad battery.

Ill check the battery orientation but I dont think it would power anything if it were in backward?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
I have a 2003 911 Targa. I keep the car on a battery tender and new my battery was on borrowed time because it was 6 years old. I had gone out for a drive and stopped home and turned the car off. When I went to leave the car hesitated when I started it.
I came home I left the car off the battery tender all night to see if the battery would drain down by the following morning. I went out the next morning the car wouldnt crank but everything lit up on the dash and worked correctly electrically. I took the battery out and brought it to be tested. The battery tested low on cranking amp and the tester said bad battery.
I bought a new battery and installed it but still had no crank. The starter doesnt make a sound. I replaced the clutch ignition switch and the ignition switch and the ignition fuse. I have swapped the starter relay and I have the same problem, no crank but everything else works on the battery.
I dont want to throw a starter at it yet because it still seems to be a problem prior to.
Any advice is welcome.
Thank you
Dumb question but its been done before...did u put the new battery in backward. Other then that, pull the terminals off, clean all surfaces and reccinect to see if that fixes it.
Now that Ive replaced the ignition switch I am getting a click in the engine bay when I try to start it so Ive ordered a starter. I am thinking I may try to jump start it to make sure the new battery isnt just too weak to turn it over.
Sorry didnt catch where u said the rest if the car was working. After checking the connection u have to trace for 12v back at the starter when key is turned. If its back there on the small wire then the starer is bad. If not it maybe the relay.
It was the ground strap! I removed and cleaned it and reattached it. I must have knocked it loose while changing the coil packs
Thank you everyone for the suggestions!
