Is it necessary to take the whole switch assembly off the steering column, or can the repair be done in place?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The monkey motion of the turn signal cancellation system breaks and causes the turn signal to not cancel. This can be reliably repaired as follows. obtain 3/16 by 1/4 inch long micro pop rivets, .020 thick fiberglass sheet, dremel tool (helpful). re-attach the plastic tabs by carefully drilling holes and riveting a piece of fiberglass (cut to approx .5 inch x .25 inch) to the tab and the piece it broke off of. Make sure you rivet to the tab from the inside out so it will function correctly. This will all become more clear when the unit is apart and you see how it's supposed to be. I tried JB weld but nothing adheres to the thermoplastic very well

no sorry, I was in a frenzy. when you see the parts, it will become obvious. the key is micro rivets and .020 thick FR 4 sheet

It has to come off and you have to take it apart by drilling out rivets (you need 1/8 x .5 inch rivets to reassemble). here's a youtube that shows more but don't try glue. You Tube
