If I saw an arctic silver set on ebay I might bite.

I like it the one recommendation I would have is to pull out the amber inside your lights turn signal and use the appropriate bulbs that will make it look even nicer.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

That look doesnt do much for me. Also, be aware that Bob did this mod to his Porsche and it caused two engines to self-destruct. Need I say more?
Sorry, Bob, I just couldn't help myself!
Not my cup of tea.... But then again, I tend to have bland taste. I don't put salt or butter on my popcorn, eat baked potatoes like apples, and eat my rice plain. The "plainer" the better for me.
Would those affect the light beam(s) in any way?
I think they would look better if they blended with the car better, instead of being able to see the outline of it so clearly- makes it look like an add-on instead of integrated.
you know I don't know either...just put them on...and actually considering to upgrade my front to the 2002 version.
I have been looking at it all day and can't make up my mind.....I kind of like it, but kind of don't.....I have to walk around the car for at least a week or so, before I can make up my mind...but thanks for all the replies!!
I didn't really like it on Bob's car, and I think I like it even less on yours since it has even more "cutouts", sorry guy. However, that being said, I have to say I LOVE the rest of your car, it's simply breathtaking.
you guys are all A--holes..I am going to bed crying tonite!!!
Like I said I have to make up my mind..kind of like them...but probably going to update the front the 2002 model..until then I WILL KEEP THEM ON MY P, BECAUSE IT IS MINE AND I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!! Just kidding....well it is mine....
I just never really liked the head lights on the 996....love the 997 headlights...
I like it the one recommendation I would have is to pull out the amber inside your lights turn signal and use the appropriate bulbs that will make it look even nicer. Renntech has a how to article on how to remove the amber and I have done it without too much difficulty but unfortunately I could not find the link to it.
Well, if you didn't want our honest opinion, you shouldn't have asked for feedback!
You could have just posted the pics and say something like "I really like the look of the light covers!" Then we would have been honest, but not "brutally honest!"
All that really matters is that you like them. If so, then keep them!
The holes for the headlight washers are really big, they will also look better when you get rid of the amber. I have the Strosek covers on mine. I'm kind of ambivalent about them now. When the 996 came out I HATED the way it looked. When it was time for me to get a a new 911 I was all set to get a 993 Targa ( I had a MY82 SC Targa ). Then I drove a 996 and saw how slick the cab version is w/the windscreen, but still couldn't get over the looks. My salesman showed me some pics of 996s that Strosek had done w/the headlight bezels and I was sold. It was the first mod I did. Now I like the early 996 headlights ( even more so then the turbo lights on narrow bodies ), they've grown on me. Do whatever you like, I'm not into bling bling wheels and spoilers - to each their own. Anyway here's a pic of the Stroseks on mine.
I'm seriously considering these. If I saw an arctic silver set on ebay I might bite. If I had a 2002 I wouldn't though.. I just don't like hte fact that my 99 looks the same as the boxter ;-)

I have to say I have been looking at them today in daylight and on black they don't look so bad
By the way I was only kidding about the crying part!! I like honesty and are secure enough to hear the truth....(OR NOT!!!) LOL.
I like the strosek ones, but don't liked the 2 hole things..the black ones I have follow the original lines of the headlines...just divide them into parts.....
I will take some pictures tomorrow...or so in daylight outside...
And if I can't get make up my mind.....a blowdryer and they come right off.
The holes around the washers are not to big they outline exactly....
Keep your opinions coming and the ones who have (kind of) the same mods keep posting them...love to see them
I am glad I am not the only one "kind of" liking them......it takes the sophistication away a little...but I don't know if this is necessaerily a bad thing...the 911 is a sports car first! I bought mine on Ebay,,I think I paid 80 bucks plus shipping and they fit very well.
And it makes the P look a little different...
by the way..don't bid against each other on these mods...soon as one auction is over, they put up a new one! I saw 2 people bidding and the units are not so hard to get....I will sell mine soon anyway! Once I make up my mind about the 996 '02 front upgrade....
Sloth - The car in the pic you posted looks awesome. How long ago did you sell it to get your Speed Yellow GT3? Can you post a couple of pics of your GT3? TIA.
So few people remember that. I actually think that the lines of the 996 headlights, both pre and post update, and the lines of the interior of the 996 are more consistent overall with the design concept of the exterior of the 996/997 than the retro round headlights and straightline interior of the 997. I like both cars, but, as a former architect, I thought the entire concept of the 996 lines held together a little better (i.e., smooth, flowing lines).
That looks quite nice Nicolas, I must say that the 996 headlamps have grown on me over the years ( at first I could not stomach them) but this type I agree flows quite well and it looks good. Its a personal thing for sure...
BTW fantastic job you are doing! Checked out your website and I nearly went blind
I must say the pics with your 996 are dazzling!!!

I can't decide. I think it would look good if the peice was built into the headlight, so it looked more original.
Since it is raised it looks like an add-on right away. I would like to see one where bondo was used to blend it into the body. But then again, that's a pretty permanent mod. ... CAN'T DECIDE!
I did mine because that's how the car came.
Who cares if you like it or not or if I like it or not, if you want to do it to your own car and it makes you happy, do it!
