Good morning folks!...New 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet owner..got some crazy things going on...bought the car on Thursday, left for fla for 8 days, alarm went nuts...so when I returned alarm would not go on or off, but it did start, went to have battery tested and it was a 20% so while I was there(auto zone) they tested alternator and said it was bad...not to go on and on, but i'd like to know where I could get an owners manual so I can understand switches etc and go from there thanks Mike

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Modern cars eat batteries because of all the computer crap that keeps running even while the car is parked. You might try getting an owner's manuall through a dealer. If you aren't going to drive the car for four days or more, putting a battery tender on it.
Renntech is definitely worth it to join. In fact that is the only forum I donated to as that site is run by Loren and he personally answers or find answers to a lot of people's questions. There's a lot of other valuable info/manuals/tutorials on that site all in a very structured fashion. All the info you need without all the fluff you see on here.
Welcome! Just a suggestion to be careful in accepting a diagnosis unless they are sure of what they are doing. If they tested at the alternator they are most likely correct, if they tested at the battery it could be the "Y cable".
I had a close call when my car was diagnosed with a bad alternator when testing at the battery. When tested at the alternator the alternator was charging, the charge simply wasn't getting to the battery. Turned out to be that cable.
In any event, hope you get it all sorted so you enjoy driving your new ride.
After you sort out the alternator, battery, cable etc. Make sure the car is fully locked every time you park it up. Even in your garage, as the alarm system takes more from the battery to keep the car unlocked as it does to keep it locked. Good luck with your search for a manual.
