Also, I figured if the GT2, GT3, and all Ferraris have coilovers, that was probably the best way to go.

You don't have to change the alignment (might be a good time to have it checked), although the lowered ROW M030 chassis at least now gives you the option for some adjustments.

I've noticed absolutely no bump steer (Styx: that's when going over a bump causes the steering wheel to kick from side to side and the car changes direction).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I finally got my Euro M030 installed. Go to this link Leo - Euro M030 and you can see the difference between the Factory and the Euro M030 suspension. cu styx

POST 3Original post

Darn Styx!!!! I wished I was as mechanically inclined as u so i can save myself some dollars on installation. Beautiful pics dude. Just got my fabspped exhaust today-getting installed tomorrw. I didnt order the headers yet. My motto is" one step at a time : )" Happy Holidays!!! Mike '99 996 coupe red/black b&m shifter fabspeed cold air unit/exhaust ruf pedals pending hopefully next year.... euro m030 suspension/ rims/ unichip/ headers

POST 4Original post

While we are on the subject can anybody tell me how to tell if I have a non-stock suspension? My 2000 C2 has 19" wheels and definately rides much firmer than my old '96 C4. Not bad mind you, but I'm curious if the previous owner might have added a 030 and I'm wondering how I can tell.

POST 5Original post

Ray, if you end up having 030 and want to go back to stock, I'll probably be selling my stock suspension soon (only 6k miles on it).

POST 6Original post

very nice. The word here is "SUBTLE". Did you have to change the alignment? Is there going to be any "bump-steer" with this setup? My set is flying over the Atlantic now from Gert's.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Arthur, yes, my porsche shop did it. They did the installation as well. I am just a software guy, like Graham.;-) I mean instaling a muffler, ok, but a suspenion, NO ! I do not understand "bump-steer" ?! cu styx

POST 8Original post

You don't have to change the alignment (might be a good time to have it checked), although the lowered ROW M030 chassis at least now gives you the option for some adjustments. I went to 1 degree negative camber in front to give the car a little more front grip for better turn in and reduced understeer. I've noticed absolutely no bump steer (Styx: that's when going over a bump causes the steering wheel to kick from side to side and the car changes direction). I think that's one of the plusses of a Porsche engineered suspension for the street over a more radical aftermarket setup....it's designed to work right with minimum drawbacks. Mike

POST 9Original post

FWIW, the alignment will have to be redone when shocks and springs are changed. This is true whether or not you want to keep the factory specified settings.

POST 10Original post

Rjay, If your car had 030 as a factory option this code should be listed on the underside of the hood. Otherwise you will have to get the part numbers off the shocks and perhaps someone can help you. Doug

POST 11Original post

Hi, looks great and I'm sure handles better than the sloppy standard suspension. Having done some suspension work on a Dinan BMW in the past, It's really tricky getting it right. Question: Did any special instructions come with the kit (camber, alignment, etc.) that the dealer used or did you just trust they would get it right. Perhaps someone knows if this kit is just a "bolt on". Also, was there a special kit for convertibles (different weight from the coupe)? thx

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. No, there are no instructions. You have to know what you do. And yes, i trust my mechanic, he absolutely knows what he does. I guess he has a workshop manuals, after all these are porsche parts, like the mechanic.lol As fare as i know there is no difference in the parts for the cab. Have a nice holiday season. styx

POST 13Original post

"As fare as i know there is no difference in the parts for the cab." Not true. There are diff parts for C2 vs. C4, 6 spd vs. tip, and coupe vs. cab.

POST 14Original post

Definately not on the car originally. The previous owner had the sport exhaust installed after the fact, so I thought he might have done some other tweeking as well. So heres a thought, as the 030 lowers the car front and rear, I presume I could at least tell if theres been any mod by a simple measurent. Does anyone know the measurements for stock and/or 030 from the center of the wheel or bottom of the disc to the ground?

POST 15Original post

My 01 from the ground to the "apex" of the wheel well was about 26 1/2"

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Ben, Do you know if there is still a possibility to put 285 tires in the back or wheel spacers? Thx cu Styx

POST 17Original post

285s are stock in 2002 for the 18"s. I have 285s on the rear of my 01 with no spacers.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

And a Euro M030, right ? I ask, because i am not certain if there is still enough space for the fenders.

POST 19Original post

I'm installing coilovers tomorrow or Friday which will be a little lower than even Euro M030 and will let you know. I doubt very seriously that lowering it appx 1" front and rear is going to cause a problem with the 285s given the vast amount of space there stock.

POST 20Original post

And, don't forget that the 2002 Euro 996 (which have the Euro M030 option) receive 285s stock on the 18" wheel option.

POST 21Original post

Ben, I thought you were doing the RoW 030, what made you decide on coilovers? Should be a very cool setup. Did you get the H&Rs? My car goes in for the RoW 030 next week! Doug

POST 22Original post

Hi DJ. I decided to do the H&R coilovers w/ GT3 adj sways. They should go in tomorrow (if they make it here early enough). The reason I chose this setup is because it is much more versitile and I can grow into even more aggressive settings later if I want to. Also, I figured if the GT2, GT3, and all Ferraris have coilovers, that was probably the best way to go. Not to mention, Steve at Rennsport was pestering me to "do the right thing" :-)

POST 23Original post

Hi Ben, Did you get the GT3 sway bars in the US and what settings will you be using? Thx

POST 24Original post

No, GT3 sways came from Belgium (MUCH cheaper). Will start out with the settings recommended by the shop. They service two Cup cars so I figure they know what they're doing :-)

POST 25Original post

Dang Styx, can my 1 year old eat off your fenderwells? Those babies are CLEAN! www.996magazine.com

POST 26Original post

Is that front or rear (with your current 030 setup I preume) ?

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Barre: No wonder, this car has only 3200 miles on it.;-)

POST 28Original post

"Is that front or rear (with your current 030 setup I preume) ?" That's the standard US suspsension (ie: NOT 030). The front and rear were within about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of each other.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
