If you need the switch for a manually adjusted seat it should still be available from Porsche since I bought it (and then returned it) within the last year.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The 8 way power seats that came with my car were slightly damaged. The passenger side "****" that controls the forward/aft movement as well as cushion pitch was missing. I can't seem to find one anywhere... Anyone have any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

have you already tried the usual suspects...dealer, junk/salvage yards, ebay?

POST 3Original post

If you find one, pick one up for me too! I've been searching for months with no luck. The cheapest I found was on Ebay, someone was selling the entire control unit (with the *****) for about $350 if I recall correctly. Other than that the next cheapest was buying a complete seat (damaged) for $250.

POST 4Original post

Mine fell off, still have it, I'll consider myself lucky.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess it is a good thing that I own a machine shop... I see a reverse engineering project if I can figure out how to get the other one off.

POST 6Original post

Yes! I have the same problem! They (dealers, new or used) only sell the complete seat switch -- you cannot get just that ****. The cheapest so far was a used switch on EBay for $109 -- for a $5 ****!! I also figure I will eventually remove the driver's side **** and fabricate another switch (with good skills but with crude hand tools). There are some very small ball ends on the switches themselves, I think. That might be how the switch is retained on the switch, and that might be the major difficulty in making another ****. Please let me know how you fare. If you find a place that can fabricate (or cast) one for you, have them make 100 of them for you. I myself would buy two. I am certain that there are many others with this same problem.

POST 7Original post

I just saw that Cuda posted the same problem back in 2013 ( https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...l#post12435905 ). I have asked him if he ever found a cure.

POST 8Original post

This place is massive and probably has what you are looking for, friend had visited there a couple of times and they were very helpful. Good luck! http://www.dcauto.com/about.php

Thanks. I emailed them. Will post if it works out.

POST 10Original post

99661371501 - C53 for graphite grey, B13 space grey, EJM granite grey. Looks like ECs tuning is the least expensive for the Switch/escutcheon assy. $419. http://www.ecstuning.com/ES1494526/ 996 613 715 01 switch comfort seat. P13 cinnamon, A03 black, S33 savanna, G13 metropole blue, J33 nephrite green, M33 boxster red

POST 11Original post

Yep, crazy pricing for s $10 **** that obviously is removable and not molded into the switch. I likewise have looked everywhere, including porsch junk yards. None (including dcauto) sell the **** alone. All sell the entire switch assembly for over $100. Time for someone to design a replacement **** and run off 100 pieces, and sell on this forum, of maybe market thru Pelican?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I will see if I can remove my good one, reverse engineer and make a bunch... I an thinking black delrin or UHMW. Give me about a month

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 12443235

Fantastic. I'm in for two.

POST 14Original post

This is a duplicate post from a similar thread about this **** -- but I need to get the word out.... I followed Wicked's advice about DC Automotive beyond mjy nebulous email traffic with DCA. I called Rex at DCA [[phone removed]], and he said no probs -- they just take a **** off one of their switches. $28 shipped. I told him that there were several Rennlisters who had voiced the same problem, and he said no probs. So, give DCA/Rex a call (no affiliation).

POST 15Original post

Double post -- but I want to get the word out! Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Got the switch from DC Auto, and I think it is the wrong one!! (See pic). Unfortunately, my car is in VA, and we are in the process of moving to KY, so could not try it. However, it does not look like the forward-back, up-down switch. Instead, it looks like the back tilt. Anyone confirm this before I call DCA? Thanks.

POST 16Original post

Correct, it's the wrong one. The one you need connects to the switch in the center, not offset like this one.

POST 18Original post

Would it be possible to 3D print the correct part, or am I way off here?

POST 19Original post

there seem to be a lot of the boxster style seat ***** available - other than the mounting area being in a different location they look similar. can these ***** be retrofitted to fit properly??

POST 20Original post

Wish I knew how to access the technology.

POST 21Original post

Came across this company who was referenced by a car owner who needed to fabricate a part (plastic) no longer being made. You will need the dimensions of the part to recreate it via 3D modeling and production. Probably worth finding others who need this part and make a bunch to differ costs. http://www.shapeways.com

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 12443235

Fergus, Did you have any luck in reverse engineering a **** for the seat switch?

POST 23Original post

If there's really no source for these, it wouldn't be that hard to make one - I could make a silicone mold of mine and cast a few out of resin. They might not be absolutely perfect aesthetically, but I suspect I could make them functional. If anyone still needs one of these, let me know (and ideally take a picture of the one you need) and I'll give it a try...

POST 24Original post

I'm in for one. Hmmm... where's my broken one so I can photo it....

POST 25Original post

I'm in. I need the same one pictured in the first post.

POST 26Original post

You also have to remove the seat to work on any of the stuff in this control panel because the wires are all tightly tied underneath and need to be freed up enough to give you room to work behind the panel. If you do remove the seat remember to keep the key far away so you don't mess up the air bag stuff while disconnected.

POST 27Original post

They sent you the wrong part. I also need the same seat control ****/switch you are looking for so if you ever find a source let us know!

POST 28Original post

Re-energizing this thread... Has ANYONE found a ****-only replacement for the to-fro/up-down seat adjustment switch? Anyone pushed to have one fabricated? thanks.

POST 29 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, I actually gave up, junked the seats and put in 997 GT3 seats . If anyone wants to send me one, I will reverse engineer and make a bunch in ABS or Delrin

POST 30Original post

My only one is on the driver's seat. Worries about "stuff" interfering with gertting it back -- kinda like lending a tool to neighbor, forever.

POST 31Original post

I have a replacement if you still need it send me a PM

POST 32Original post

I have a replacement for the broken part holding the ****. send me a PM

POST 34Original post

I am new to the forum, but not new to these cars. I have a 2002 C4S with a missing seat adjustment **** on the driver's seat. Ordered what I thought was the correct replacement only to find out it is for a manual seat adjustment switch. I understand I need to order a complete switch for $400+ to get the ****. Thread sounds like somebody has reversed engineered to fabricate a replacement or has a **** by some other means. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure how to PM the guy identified as ER.

POST 35Original post

hi Do you still have this button i need the same switch Reagrds

POST 36Original post

Hi Do you still have the remplacement switch for the seat Regards

POST 37Original post

I was able to return the switch which was for manually adjusted seats as I needed the **** only for the electric 4-way adjustable seat. The **** I need is only sold together with the complete switch for $400+. If you need the switch for a manually adjusted seat it should still be available from Porsche since I bought it (and then returned it) within the last year. Good luck.

POST 38Original post

Hi , i also need the replacement switch for le electric 4 way adjustable seat Regards

POST 39Original post

Thread revival! - Unlike some folks in need of the ****, I'm missing #17 pictured below which centers the **** and allows the seat to lower. I've called Porsche to find out this part is discontinued. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

POST 40Original post

I'm in the same boat with my 2016 997. Need the passenger side adjustment ****. Though upon closer inspection, it seems as though a white plastic connector piece is what actually broke.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
