Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Run across this thread' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run across this thread' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone heard of a product called “The Third Foot” by Wings Engineering? The 2002 I picked up last week has one. It is a bolt on aluminum accelerator pedal extension to the stock pedal that is height and angle adjustable designed to make heel toe shifting easier. It’s a clever looking device. I gather that the company went out of business though.
Unfortunately, the car also came with a broken hinge on the bottom of the accelerator pedal. It had an agricultural looking fix consisting of a hardware store galvanized hinge jury rigged to a copper sleeve around the pivot point. I’ve disassembled it, and am trying to decide what I want to do with it to make it safe and usable.
It seems like this pedal hinge is a known weak area in the 996, so I’m looking to the aftermarket for an upgrade.
Rennline sells a sturdy looking replacement hinge for about $65, or a fancy pedal assembly that runs around $325. Are there other options out there that I’ve missed?
I opted for a Rennline adjustable pedal. Nice piece of what. Those guys know how to do it right!!
In case anyone is interested, here are some photos of that the third foot. Its a kind of clever design that slips over the stock pedal, and gives a lot of adjustability. I guess the company is out of business...
Resurrecting this thread in the hopes of getting OP's attention.
@cds72911
how do you like your Rennline adjustable gas pedal? I just finished driving my Z4 and 996 back to back and it reminded me how abysmal the 996 is to heel-and-toe. In searching for a fix I ran across this thread. I tried to PM you but your inbox overfloweth.
It's not a 996, but I have the Rennline pedals in my 951 and I like them. They are definitely better than the stock pedals, and better than my 996 pedals for spirited driving. They look really slick too.
