Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was driving along, minding my own business, in my 2014 991.1 Turbo S when suddenly a 996 C4S pulled in front of me from a side road - oh my, what an utter beautiful exterior when viewed from behind. I have owned a 996.2 C4S as well as a 997.2 C4S and now a 991.1 Turbo S and honestly, the 996 has the best looking rear end of them all, hands down... 996.2 C4S (Ownership from Jan 2013- Mar 2017) 997.2 C4S (Ownership from Mar 2017 - April 2020) 991.1 Turbo S (Ownership from April 2020 - )

Yes the 996 C4S has a nice rear view. However, your Turbro S is very appealing, as well. More angular and modern race car like. Drive in good health.

POST 3Original post

Theyre all good, but youre right. The 996 C4S has an awesome rear end. Our progression has been quite similar, as weve discussed.

POST 4Original post

I agree with you....we just added a C4S to the family stable and I think it's beautiful from the rear. I found this pic I posted when he first got the car....you can see my Turbo S in garage and while it ain't bad looking, C4S is better looking from rear IMHO, in fact probably one of the best porsche rear ends. I need to do a side by side. Glad he got it.

POST 5Original post

The 996 C4S has a great looking back end, but I have to disagree that it's the best looking. I had a 997.2 C4S also, and I prefer the back of it to the 996 C4S. In fact, I prefer the back of the 996 C2 over the C4S, but I know I'm in the minority.

I still remember sitting at a traffic light behind, a then brand new, 996 C4S. It is a look that really stands out. Flows very well. Looks wise, it's hard to beat! A white C4S?!!! Very rare!! That's my dream non-GTX 996!! Black interior?

The C4S has the same wide body as the turbo, and it shares tail lights with the turbo. The most notable differences are the rear wing on turbo models, and the center reflector strip on the C4S. In my opinion, the center reflector strip really makes the C4S stand out from the other 996 variants. It integrates perfectly with the tail lights, and it definitely pays homage to the air cooled cars. The reflector strip on the 997.2 C4S cars looks a little out of place to me. It looks more like an afterthought.

I agree with qualifications...I had a 997.2 C4S for 9 years and must admit I miss it. The rear end was gorgeous but somehow I still favor the 996. I think in part ,it's because I am biased by 996s in general as being my favorite generation 911 which I am also probably in the minority as well. My 996 (though highly modified) is my favorite car in my stable. It is Dark Gray but it looks black. Agree, he scored with this rare car color. You may be in luck, in that he has his fathers disease....he is now saving up for a 997 Turbo so sometime in the future this car may be up for sale....unless I buy it from him.

Can you provide more pictures with those wheels...Also, would love to know the wheel sizes, tires and offsets....My son is looking to get different wheels and we both like yours. Also, what have you done to the suspension if anything.

POST 13Original post

Saw this rear end and immediately traded my 2000 C2 in for it. Didn't even expect to wake up that day and purchase a C4S but I had to have it!

POST 16Original post

I own both a 996 4s and a 997.2 4s. I think the 996 rear end is best looking hands down. From all other angles however the 997.2 is superior looking. I hope to follow OPs trend and try a turbo next! Manny, 03 4s 6 speed Otto, 09 4s PDK 4.0

I decided to try something a little different with tire size as I wanted a bit more side wall for the rears. After much deliberation and working out the correct ratios and sizes relative front to back I decided on the following. Front: 18x8.5 ET42 with MPSS 245/40-18 tires Rear: 18x11 ET36 with MPSS 295/35-18 tires The last two photos show after a slight 5mm drop F&R...still have not rub issues. According to the numbers the front to rear is only a difference of 1.5%. Revs per mile is a difference of 13 so I think i'm within the window for proper sizes. The overall diameter is larger in the back and I believe from most of what I've seen the fronts should be larger. First test drive.....drove great with no warnings/codes for ABS or PSM. Not rubbing and no spacers thanks to the perfect fitment of APEX RACING either. May try and go 5mm lower on the Ohlins R&T after more testing.

Not sure if I'd say that 23'000 would be classified as a ton over a full production cycle... 175'000 996's were produced in total (I believe) so every 1:7.6 were a 996 C4S - but I know what you mean looking in the classified (regardless if in the US or Europe)

I have the XAH factory aero - then I had a local decal guy make the letters for me and I applied directly to the reflector - it shows up better in black and white photos

POST 31Original post

I like both of mine but the red reflector looks great on the 4S don't think it would look good on the Turbo but I also think I have the best color on each one for the model wouldn't look as good if they where switched around.

It's funny how automotive design works -- for me at least. I'm always slow to embrace a new design, but once i do, those a few generations before it start to look classic, when before, they looked modern. I think the 996 is there right now. I've always thought the late 80's 930 was THE best looking 911 of all time, but nowadays, it's starting to look old/outdated. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's a GORGEOUS design, but now that we're 40 years past it, the 996 is now the one that looks "appropriately classic." Anyway you slice it, I totally agree -- I admire the C4s's rear every chance i get NqL0Go0.jpg

POST 36Original post

i love my 996 4s and find the back end hard to resist looking at. that said, i find it amazing how dramatically different the car looks when you move even slightly away from the dead on rear view, almost night and day different:

POST 37Original post

I find it fascinating that from the back the top section looks so small while the hips jet out a foot. If you look from the side, you just don't see it the hips but then other areas shine.
