Suggestion
I kind of like the looks of the heat shrink repair job that people have done for $5.

Suggestion
When replacing the oil filler pipe, it is a good idea to have a spare plastic connector for that coolant pipe that is right there.

Suggestion
U have to be careful if u have made an aos test cap for the fill tube.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So my oil filler tube is cracked. Time to change. Looking at the part numbers, the old 996 filler tube is now replaced with the 997 one. the original part number is 99610715061 the replacement part number is
997-107-131-00. I
notice the new part does not bolt in like the old one. Anyone have experience on how this mates to the block.
The updated part # fits fine.

Don't forget to also order the O-ring

Remove the alternator as others have already mentioned. I removed the throttle body as well. An extension and a universal joint at the socket end worked best for me.

Done!
When replacing the oil filler pipe, it is a good idea to have a spare plastic connector for that coolant pipe that is right there. Better yet, get the stainless steel/metal hose connector and be done with that fitting forever.
Just wanted to add one thing with the 997 part. U have to be careful if u have made an aos test cap for the fill tube. The 997 part has an inner ring and u will have to grind back the underside threads on the nipple so it scews on correctly.
reason it is cheaper, the mounting portions is plastic and I forget who but it broke when mounted on the car, it also doesn't have a stop boss built to it to keep it in place like original.
Bought a URO one recently - there was no plastic on it - was all metal and was an identical piece to the original plastic. I bought both and compared them (URO and a genuine one) they were the same. Perhaps you bought an earlier one but the one I got was great.
Genuine plastic:
URO:
No need to remove the alternator entirely, you just need to move it about an inch or two to the left.
The Uro coolant piece is definitely all metal.
I broke mine rushing the joband not ensuring the boss was in the correct location.(dinner was ready and I had a kid talking to me)
Replacement went on just fine.
Cheapest place I found it was RockAuto. ~$15
