Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2003 C4S. How do I determine if it is a MOST bus versus something simpler. The car had a CDR23 radio and standard speakers.

So I assume from what I have read I essentially have to revamp everything from head unit on back?

POST 4Original post

Head unit and amp yes...speakers are optional but most would recommend doing them as well. I have the bose speakers and while there are MANY better speakers, I didn't want to go through the effort of cutting the covers to mount them to aftermarket speakers. Replacement of head unit and amp alone made a big difference.

POST 5Original post

Yup, it's pretty much a do-over. You could try to keep the speakers, but at the point you're already junking 80% of the system...

POST 6Original post

I have a '05 996 4S and am in the midst of a complete replacement. If you are looking for more info feel free to send me a pm. I have been reading obsessively for about a month and have all components minus the amp decision made and sitting at my house. I enjoy this type of install work so I will attempt it myself. I will also be attempting to construct my own single or dual sub 8" box behind the seats. Good luck and there is a lot of great info on this forum.
