Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I searched - I really did. Could'nt find anything on this. I just had Porsche swap stock PSE mufflers to a set of Fuchs. The tech told me that he removed some vacuum lines to prevent them from melting on the new mufflers. He showed me and there were approximately 3-4' of vacuum line. He also showed me that he had capped off the nipple on top the engine. Is this normal? Removing vacuum lines with aftermarket mufflers? 01 996 Thanks

POST 2Original post

yes. your new mufflers don't have a vacuum activated switch like the OEM one has.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@AWDGuy, thanks. That's what I was hoping but the tech wasn't clear and I didn't ask the right questions.

One of the PSE doors/flaps would rattle (rarely) and I wouldn't have changed them for that but a friend owns a European body shop and gave me the Fuchs. Where are you located? You can PM me. Car they came off only has 30k miles.

POST 6Original post

"Stock" or OEM lines are stainless braided and do not melt. No need to cap off anything if you are running a true factory PSE which has a solenoid next to the throttle body area. Make sure that solenoid electrical harness is disconnected and you should be all good. Obviously it won't hurt to wire tie the lines out the way so it doesn't dangle.
