Can anyone tell me (from experience) what quality aftermarket head unit fits the dash and/or where I might find a functioning original equipment unit.

There are a bunch of good threads on this topic. Search is your friend. Look for 'double DIN' as a term.

The factory unit is a single din unit. 2002, even with the Bose system, can pretty much h be replaced with anything. 2003 and later models have a Bose system that is very tricky to upgrade. If you want an original equipment model, ebay is your best bet. Or look in the classifieds here on rennlist, they pop up now and then. Others have done a double din upgrade as referenced by rpm, above, which requires moving some stuff around in the center stack.
