The 996 interior has typical wear on the contact surfaces which are easily replaced via the Sonnen parts department for Alcantara bits or carbon fiber kit.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Trying to finalize my deal today -- this car has Avantgarde M550 9.5x 19 and 11x19 on it which I will ditch ASAP for 18" stockers. It's a mechanically solid, smooth running 04 c2 from my auto broker which was traded in locally and has lived locally. The interior will likely get loved on / swapped out as well this year. Red on tan. Very excited to finally commit to a 911. IMS fixed under warranty at 16k. No other major service craziness according to service advisor at Porsche and the mechanic. The car is lowered- it is LOW. It has typical 1mm chips on leading edge of hood and a few on rear arches. Drivers door has chips on the edge near the door handle. I'm considering a wrap job in flat dark grey as it will be my DD and I like the outlaw stuff. I'd hand it over to Nakai-San, but cutting those fenders might kill me! Car will need a clutch/flywheel at some point. 17,9$. PO dip**** got wax all over the rubber strips on the roof and some rear window rubber. Hate that. I asked for a new windshield as well. The burning question is......what baby seat fits best back there!!!!!?????

POST 2Original post

Congrats! Post up some pix. Regarding baby seat, do a search. I know I have seen threads with some good recommendations.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nice mixture of emotions....oh FCK, oh yeah, wife hates it since it's a 6spd, OMG potholes, baby seat, short shifter, and when can I start yanking out the interior!

POST 4Original post

OMG Why would you want to change anything on that smart looking car. ????????????? I think your head needs a good wrapping not the car AND it doesn't look like it's lowered to me. BTW what mileage????

POST 5Original post

Not sure I grasp what the OP is saying, but it sounds like wrapping the perfect red color with some kind of dull scum, and cutting metal around the wheel arches. Like they say -- it's your car...

POST 6Original post

Congrats on the 911 purchase! I also went from a Cayenne to a 911, and I've never looked back!

POST 7Original post

Sweeeet.....good looking ride. I like the rims, but I am a bigger fan of 18's, since they have a softer ride. I wish I could find 17's that look that good !

Nice looking car. I like the wheels. And a wrap? Why cover perfection?

Looks lowered to me. Nice looking 996. Enjoy.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What I am trying to convey is the tires are ultra low profile. My Cayene Turbo has little if any rock chipping and a full leather interior which toddlers and wife's makeup is unkind to. Unless tiny chips can be fixed......Approaching 120k mi. My moving to a 911 was defensive as to values having stabilized or trending upward plus the maligned 996 is the value 911. 955 is dropping steadily and I have babied mine. The 996 interior has typical wear on the contact surfaces which are easily replaced via the Sonnen parts department for Alcantara bits or carbon fiber kit. There simply needs to be way more tire to handle the garbage roads we have in Dallas. Options are very basic and I'm happy about LESS **** to break this go round. The 955 is beginning to scare me.

POST 13Original post

Congrats on your purchase. I'd lose the 19" wheels as well. Share some interior pics.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, need to buy the ****er first! I asked for new tires and a new windshield. This is my 7th car from these guys and never had a problem mechanically. PPI nevertheless despite theirs having been completed.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 12914865

Um - post one says you are going to ditch the 19" wheels and switch to 18". But first, you ask them to give you new tires.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wheels are cool BUT tires are ultra low pro aspect ratio. They won't last a month in my neighborhood. Out in the Plano-Frisco where this car lived, no problem. We have potholes in Uptown that would strand an M1 MBT.......Looking to NOT drop a stack and a half upon delivery on new wheels and rubber. You like anyone in Dallas for PPI?
